I doubt it would be succesfull unles microsoft really built a name for themselves in the gaming industry. Right now there are people who wont even play the xbox just becuase bill gates owns microsoft. Stupid shit like that. So i doubt it would be a huge hit.

microsoft is the Pepsi of the gaming world. They take an idea, and if it is sucessful, the make one of their own, and call it better beacuse it is made by microsoft. besides, would you want to carry around a 5 pound portable?
I agree with Moses, their portable would probably be huge and awkward, just like the xbox controller.

Their called pda's and palm pilots. :p. My brother has one at colledge and he burned some gba games onto it.
Hmm... That's a tough one... Considering they've got products in pretty much every technology category on the planet (operating system, mice, keyboards, games, gaming platforms...) I don't see why they wouldn't stop expanding. I think they'd have a bit of a problem making the gaming system small though, considering the size of the Xbox. I think it would be a largely successful market for Microsoft though.
