Program Conflicts With XP Service Pack 2

I only installed it on my laptop. Which only has like word and stuff like that on it.

My desktop is still without SP2, and I'm now glad it is.

I love the "We have this GREAT new XP update for everyone, its all finished, but quite a few games don't work on it".

I mean, we all want to trade in the ability to play some good games in exchange for a subpar firewall and a dumbass meter that tells us if our computer is in trouble. Don't we? Hey, where did everyone go?

It depends because some pre-made computers come with it installed without a prompt. There are 3 options:

- Never Dl and update
- Dl/update then notify me
- Dl/update/install - no notify.

Sigh... did you guys not read the "may behave differently"? This doesn't mean they WILL behave different, nor whether that behavior make them not WORK. I'm guessing a lot of the MS programs will just be updated to work with sp2 and add extra security features. That and the games effected may "behave differently" in that SP2 might change their settings or whatnot to work with the new stuff in SP2.

We don't know what will happen next and I BELIEVE you can uninstall SP2 once you install it. Is the official release out yet?

Ok, they "may" work. My point is if they aren't going to optimize it to run with the programs it currently does with SP1 and before, I don't find it worth the supposed fixes it offers.

One misleading point about the SP2 all along is that they never really specified whether the firewall would be user controlled. Now as most of us know, you can, but it has gone on to confuse quite a few people.

Not really. UT2004 and Call of Duty are both for Mac, as are most games released.

But you're right, the PC does have a larger selection.
