The more I think about an N5 merge, the more I think man this would be great. This would be the thing to get Ninteno back to the top.

I think the 5 companies would be
Nintendo
Panasonic
American Online
Capcom
Sega

I think it would be a great idea

1. Panasonic- for the DVD Technology and hardware technology(helping Nintendo design things such as DVD remotes Lightguns LCD screens and so forth)I don't want a small little dinky system, I think Panasonic would help Nintendo design a better looking mainstream look. All wireless controllers are a must.

2.AOl- for getting Nintendo into the online world. Nintendo said that they werre waiting to go online, because they wanted it to remain simple and cost free. ( I have a Playstation 2 also but the main reason I don't play online is because you have to have all the wires hooked up everywhere, high speed internet connection, subscription and all that is just to much mess to deal with)Nintendo want's to go online but they will do it in a way to revolutionize the online gaming industry, and who better to do that with than AOL the most widley used and simple form of the internet.

3.Capcom- helping Nintendo get more Adult First Party games out there(Dark Realastic Zelda) maybe even a new stream of Nintendo Maskots while still keeping the originals.

4.Sega- Same thing maybe possibly helping Nintendo get into exclusive sport games, have like the SN sports or somthing. Exclusive
Baseball, Football, Basketball, Hockey, Soccer,
and revamped series such as DuckHunt, ExciteBike, Punchout, and a good racing game. And have them come out every year. Punchout 2005 2006 and so on.

That's the 1% chance that Sony and MS have sleepless nights from.

Incrediably doubtful but one can always hope.

I guess it would be kinda cool. As long as Nintendo remains the actual company and the others just work in conjunction with Nintendo. But this will most likely never happen.

So I guess that we'll just forget abput ATI making the graphics chip then since they aren't part of this collaboration.

I don't like the AOL part of this equation. Like everybody else here, I also dislike AOL and feel that they are sort of internet for dummies. Personally, I feel that ATI, IBM, and Panasonic are good business partners for Nintendo to continue working with. As for Capcom and Sega, it is technically possible but highly improbable.

Yeah, "merge" is a bad choice of term, since "partner" would be much more likely. Partnerships are much more common than merges, and a merger between any two of these would indeed be most unlikely, perhaps almost as unlikely as one between say Wal-Mart and Hustler or Penzoil and McDonalds.

Who cares if aol sucks. They have great advertisig power and it doesn't mean that you will have to have ao to play the games online.

AOL's last mile sucks, but couldn't they provide decent service for Nintendo?

I don't want to see Nintendo merge with or be bought out by anyone, but I certainly think that aditional partnerships would be greatly beneficial to Nintendo's future efforts. I agree with Paladin that Nintendo should really continue to work with its current partners, particularly IBM and ATI. This gives good crediblilty to Nintendo's hardware.

I'll probably get blasted for saying this, but I think that some sort of partnership with Apple Computer would be mutually beneficial to both parties. It would help elevate the "chicness" of Nintendo, and give Apple a foot in the door of the gaming industry, which it is currently all but shut out of by its market share.

A partnership with Apple in the form of efficiency in hardware would be beneficial, though Nintendo is by far the best of the 3 at making its console efficient.

Perhaps a hybrid G5/Power PC with as much of IBMs copper circuitry as possible.

As a benefit to Apple, it would make a port of any N5 game more plausible.
