I still say Link because of his range. Roy has a very powerful flame sword attack but it takes a long time to charge it and link could boomerang his ass all day long.

In SSBM, I like both Marth and Link but hardly ever used Mario. Even with Mario's fireballs, he just doesn't stack up to Link's firepower when packing his whole inventory of weapons. However, if we took this battle outside of SSBM to some theoretical location, Mario could potentially use a mushroom and suddenly become twelve feet tall and weigh in at about 1000 pounds, which might turn things in his favor a bit.

Marth and Roy are set up in SSBM so that anybody can be good with them. I think that somebody who's an expert at the game could be better with Mario, particularly if we let Dr. Mario count. My personal favorite in the game is definitely Fox.
