Burton did a good job on the first one, and I see no reason why he'd make this one suck. And the whole "goth" Willy Wonka stuff doesn't really bug me, I haven't read the books or anything, but it seems like Wonka would be more of a creepy recluse than he was portrayed as in the first movie. It makes sense, seeing as he lives alone in a chocolate factory. Well, I guess there's the oompa loompas, but they don't really count.
