so have you guys ever heard of that new 'Analord' (stupid name) series that aphex twin is releasing in 2005 on Rephlex Recordings ? it's some kind of real expensive and mysterious release.

you can have some infos here: https://www.rephlex.com/analord10.php

but it's not really interesting to buy it I think, too DAMN FUCKING expensive.

but I found a site where you can have the 2 mp3's of this first release... listen to them here: http://www.opaquechannel.com/aphex_twin_-_analord_10

tell me what you think.

Only 2 songs? I wonder if there's gonna be a full album later or not. I'll give those songs a listen and post my thoughts.

:edit: Both those songs were really great, but I'm a little suspicious of the album since it's not on Warp, and I didn't get many big name results when I googled the album. May be a pretender or something trying to make some cash. Good stuff either way.

It's okay, I'm listening to the first one. I'm not super impressed or anything.

yeah it's not 100% innovative or groundbreaking but I feel this shit... it sounds good to me.

and there is nothing said about a full lenght album yet. It's supposed to be a serie of vinyls going out once in a while.

and aphex is not only releasing on Warp, yo.

Well, I liked the songs (especially the first one,) and I like the idea of 'collect all 10' or however many there will be, but I would hope that when the vinyl series is completed, he releases all of them in the form of one whole album on CD (double-discs if he has to.)

The first one was way sweet. When the beat first cuts in.

They're definetely staying on my list.

Richard D. James album is a must, most regard it as his best album, and it has his best songs on it. I Care Because You Do is my personal favorite, it's a bit more accesible, and it's got an overall good set of songs, with less that I don't like. His newest one besides Analord is Drukqs, which I haven't heard yet, but I hear his other stuff's better. He also has a remix album called 26 Mixes for Cash, which I hear is pretty good. I've only heard a few songs from it, but Come to Daddy is apparently pretty good as well. If I were you, I'd just pick up the whole stack.

yeah well...

the 'richard d. james' album is where everyone should start. it has the great bubble-gum-esque melodies (synths/strings/whatever) and the drill-ish beats. It is stated as his best album and I would tend to agree. Second, you should get the 'Come to daddy EP'. this album is just straight up great great. the title song is hardcore and fooking great and you have some really great 'mellow' songs that I would classify as some of the best afx music like 'flim' and 'IZ-US'. Then, thirdly, you should get the 'I care because you do' album. it's kindof more accessible, just like johnnybwoy stated but still has lots of great great tunes (i.e. 'Alberto Balsalm' is grrrreat!!!).

those are pretty much all the stuff that you MUST have or something like that. Drukqs has great stuff but is too expansive and way too incoherent. it's half of really really complex drill'n bass songs mixed with half strictly piano/synth melodies. you get a kindof mixed emotions and it doesn't really flow that well in my opinion.

Plus, you have tons of releases that are really old (like the 'selected ambient works 1 and 2') but they are kinda too expansive even though everyone says they are mind-blowing.

I hope this helped and I hope I didn't write that too late.
peacee

Windowlicker's good as well, but it's an EP, so I'd just download it.
