Hypothetical situation:

Suppose tommorow all our problems would be solved. Im talking about no more global warming/no more ozone hole, we have a virtually unlimited supply of energy, silly societal disputes like abortion, gay marrige ect. would be setteled and done with, relgious extremism would come to a stop, a cure for Aids, cancer ect. Basically a planet completely at peace.

My question to you is, what happens next?

Enjoy life? life has never been about trying to get rid of every single little problem (at least for me it hasn't)

question is, can we enjoy life when there are no more challenges left?

All the liberals or evironmentalists would start complaining about something else!

note that only conservatives would say something like that on this site.
Or maybe im wrong.
I just realized I let him drag me down to his level when countring that statement, cause I just basically said the same as he did.
I shouldnt have argued.
Because, as the saying goes, Heretic beat me with experience.
Considering he was the first to express him self in those terms...

No, we would all be bored. It's hard to imagine. There would be no such thing as jobs. No money? There is an asshole born everyday, would these people exist?

First off all, I'd like to point out that it is impossible to get rid of all our troubles. If we did get rid of the ones you mentioned, more would arise such as the unemployment to all the people who get paid to argue about polotics, research global warming, the ozone, fuel. etc. But I realize that's not the point of this thread, so I'll just let it go.

Anyway, if we had no more worries, we would certainly try to colonize other planets and look for other forms of life. We would also try to get better forms of entertainment. Movies would not cut it any more, we would need like VR or something like that. We most likely would spend much more time trying to cure diseases and prolong the human life.

I think I would make myself a glass of chocolate milk, sit down with woman, and watch a movie.

New problems would arise, and if they didn't, we'd make some.

I think everyone missed the most important item I covered, virtually unlimited energy. In case you know little about human instincts our #1 goal is to aquire goods, whether it be food, money, power or whatever. So when you have a an unlimited source of energy the benefits inevitably seep into every other branch of human existence.

Who says humanity cant be perfect, because once your #1 priority becomes utterly meaningless you're free to do whatever the hell you want - whenever. Massive social experiments, people making this or doing that "just because", every moment alive would be like an eternal state of bliss.

I would think that violence would become something that only happens in movies, no longer in real life.

You know, like politicians who care about things other than remaining in office.

That's okay. If all the problems were solved, there would be no conservatives. Ditto religion. Don't deny that disputes over faith have caused millions to die needlessly. Crusades? Spanish Inquisition? KKK? Isreal-Palestine? Salem Witchhunts?

Of course, it's entirely possible that religion would become about love and faith rather than ignorance and prejudice. In which case, huzzah. Just as good, possibly even better.

Like I said hell on Earth. There will be a time when this happens. It's called the 7 years of Tribulation. It's coming soon. Thank God I wont be around to see it.

Yeah I believe that all the problems in the world comes from man's sinful nature.

haha, plus rep for you. But I would also add IDKFA just for emphasis.

Actually Dave I dont think the problems come from humans being sinful. I think many problems happen because humans rely on many different things. We are a parasite if you will. We feed on the earth for resources (like parasites feed on our own bodies). We also not only need those things but other things such as sex and whatever else. We are very 'needy'. Once we run out of one thing, we will immediatley start searching for a replacement, something to fill that spot. It's a cycle that happens, and i'm sure some day it will all start over again somewere else and happen again. It's human nature.

I will agree that human's are needy people which need converts into greed which in return greed is sin.

We could solve all of our problems if we had no "needs".

So in other words a worldwide mass suicide.
