View Full Version : Judgment Day
When Pokemon returns.
Think about the possibilities this game could have online with the Revolution.
Just imagine you can custom make your trainer, or rather...you and literally live in the world of Pokemon. You could make your living by running your own gym/clan. Or even better, customize the way you want your gym to look like, what you want you're arena to look like, what color, element (or a mix of an element such as Ice/Water etc.).
But Gym Leading isnt the only way to make a living. You could also breed Pokemon. This means learning what food each Pokemon loves and is good for them not only to stay healthy, but to increase thier preformance in battle as well. Or even quite possibly make different combonations to make even more better, nutritious food. You could quite possibly make some quick money if you sell some too. Moreover, breed to make new species of Pokemon.
Customizable attacks. It would be pretty cool to customize the way you want your attacks to look like or the way you want them pulled off with any type of attack. Or create new attacks.
Tournaments and Contests. It would be stupid not to have any. You can enter tournaments and contests to win prizes such as special one of a kind items in the game, Pokemon apperal, or hopefully...cash prizes.
There are so many damn possibilities that would make this game such a success for the Revolution. And would bring back the Pokemon franchize back again. After it kinda faded away I'm still really appealed to it. And you have to admit its a pretty addicting game.
Thoughts, or perhaps ideas of your own?

There was an IGN article with some interesting ideas in it a few months ago. I should track that down...

I just thought of a not too bad idea that has probably been thought of before. It isnt really to do with the Revs capabilities thought.
Instead of having a turn based game, have it so when you choose your Pokemon, instead of 'contolling' and trainer, and control the actual pokemon. For example, you choose Pikachu and he is thrown in and you run around fighting the other pokemon with your one. (Third person I suppose). This would still allow for the same RPG system, the more you use a move, it gets better and once you beat pokemon/teams your pokemon get experience. This would be awsome because you could assign different moves to each of your Pokemon, kind of like in zelda with the X,Y,Z (or c-up, c-down, etc).

Turn-based is the way to go. Oh and GameFreak needs to do this, instead of releasing 2 new pokemon games then the same game almost a year later with more things in it. My favorite GB memory was actually Pokemon Red and I still play a lot of the pokemon games today because they're real fun, online would be great and sell a lot of people the Revolution.
Basically they need to make it a MMORPG

Everquest for kids! I wonder how many Parents are going to hate Nintendo for getting them hooked on MMORPGs...it will be a console seller though...

I'd like an Action RPG style Pokemon game, take a page out of the Pokemon anime way of doing things.

If they give it a D&D Online like engine then I'm happy. Turn-based IMO leaves a lot to be desired and action gives advantage to the fastest players rather than the thinking ones. The engine I'm talking about gives you the amount of attacks you can perform on your own within a round time and even with that action orientation there is still a lot of thinking involved.

Everquest for kids! That would be the combination of the 2 things that Nintendo could do that would ruin this game. Making it a generic MMORPG, and making it for kids like most other Pokémon spinoffs.
What would make it awesome is if you didn't directly control Pokémon but instead you play in real time and shout commands (with a microphone or a menu, I don't care). When you first capture a Pokémon or are cruel to it, it won't listen much but eventually it will become very obediant. Kinda like Nintendogs, only more burny and killy. Most players would be traveling trainers, but some people can do other things like set up shops and such. They could also give the top player (chosen both by their battle rankings, success against former 1337 players and team rating by moderators) the role as the champion (like the one at the end of each GB game), the next 4 as the elite 4 and the next 8 as gym leaders. Of course, they have to give those 13 something more to do than just stand around a room all day. I'm sure if they did something like this they could figure it out. These 13 would be constantly shifting due to new challengers coming and beating them frequently and such. All changes like this would require being looked over by moderators/admins, and that shouldn't be hard since there will only be 13. The gym leaders could spend money or something to customize their gyms and badges which would be given to those who win. There would have to be some kind of incentive to keep them from giving away badges, such as losing their spot if they give too many in a certain time frame.
Aside from that, the battle system could be very similar. The main problem would be the game being overrun by little kids, which is bad.
Who gives a shit if its for kids. All that matters is, is thats its going to be fun as hell.

Anywho, I for one would really like a Pokémon MMORPG on the Revolution, with the potential of being linked to the DS game as well. There should be some rules in order to become a gym leader though, in order to prevent rookies from becoming one. Maybe by winning a Nintendo-organised tournament or something like that.
Speaking of which: they should host frikkin' Pokémon Leagues in collosal arena's. Even if you haven't qualified or don't intend on participating, you should have the possibility to follow these matches live with hundreds of others in the same arena.

Who gives a shit if its for kids. All that matters is, is thats its going to be fun as hell. The Pokémon spinoffs were probobly directed directly at kids, and most people agree they suck. The original Pokémon games were not directed at kids alone and most people (who aren't the lolz0r pokmon is ghey people) agree that they are amazing. If Nintendo doesn't take this game as serious as the Gameboy RPGs, then it will have big issues and will be generally less fun, like most non-RPG Pokémon games.
