The latest issue of Japanese economy magazine, Weekly Diamond, reveals that developers are unhappy with the state of PS3 development tools, and software is likely to be late in coming for the hardware. The article states that PS3 dev tools have only just started shipping to developers this month, while 360 tools were shipped last summer. Furthermore, SCE has not yet announced the price of the console, so developers are unable to predict what audience they are targetting games at. President of Enterbrian, Hirokazu Hamamura, says "We are unlikely to see games exhibiting a level only PS3 can achieve until the end of 2007."

This is just a rumor. No developers have come out and said anything like this. Also this article is a little late since development tools went out in sept.

Mark Rein is correct...IMO!! (http://media.xbox360.ign.com/articles/661/661361/vids_1.html)
Mark Rein IMO is correct about all these cry babies. Crying about development cost, development tools, team size, ECT. Companies like Epic, Konami, Square/Enix, Namco, and a few others will make there money back, no matter how tough the development system and tools are.

Enterbrain? Give me a break... I still remember using their RPG Maker 95 a LONG time ago... Enterbrain is probably one of those "cry baby" studios Mark has been talking about *sigh*.

sony is makeing it really hard for the devs.
if any of these rumors trun out to be true.
North america wont see the PS3 launch next fall.
and i hope sony dont rush the PS3 to the market next spring.
this will hurt them even more.

2007, you would think SOE has a handle on game development, and would possibly be able to exhibit games at "a level only PS3 can achieve." Though the statement doesn't surprise me too much, developers have to get very familiar with a process before fine tuning it to a point of awe.

sometimes i think the rumors are true.
becuae they been showing the smae demos over and over again.
at the TGS they show E3 demos.
and now the show this week i hread they where still showing demos
from E3.
I really think sony got caught they will lose a of gamers to the 360
of course it will take at least 3 years to see the full potential of PS3. Kojima said it will take three years to see the true power of PS2. and look at it now. games like GoW and SotC were never thought possible. we are talking 4-5 years after PS2 launched.
but this isn't a problem. we will be amazed of the first games because there are all brand new. then better and beter looking games will keep us wanting more. by the time PS3 is maxed out- or so we think- demos of PS4 will be showing up everywhere. and the cycle keeps on going. this is why I love the gaming industry; there is always something new, something exciting to look forward to!

Im already satisfied developers could take pretty much out of PS3 hardware.
Just look at Fight Night, Metal Gear Solid 4 .. they looks marvellous.. these two games looks really really good, not to mention they are built using incomplete PS3 SDK.
Kojima also mentioned that MGS4 will looks better when it launched last TGS in japan.

yeah this statement doesnt suprise me in the least bit
of course, I would have to share the view that releasing the final kits only arounf four months from launch does seem a bit late. but keep in mind that these aren't the first kits, but the final ones. this means devs have been working on PS3 games before that. also, we will be pritty much amazed by anything. look back at some launch games on nearly all platforms. you will laugh at some of them. but at that time, they were considered great looking. PS2 has the imbarrising Sky Surfer. Box had that horrible looking party game (forgot the actual name). PSOne had Tekken 1. now look at the difference between Tekken 1 and Tekken 3.
I expect some first games won't look that good at all. look at X2's PDZ, DoA, CoD, Gun, etc. (the examples are many here since all of them except PGR are ports from current gen).
PS3's Fifth Phantom Saga.
but who cares. if you don't like the launch games, wait a little longer till you get the games you like to warrent a $400 purchase.
