does anyone remember nintendo saying something like they had a new mascot or something like that. they said they had something new for us. they also said that mario would have a new friend. what doing you think this new friend could be. or the new mascot?

They are working on new IP's but not much else is really known.

I imagine the new 'firend' to be a new playable, or perhaps even non-playable, character in the next Mario game.

Most of you are wrong. Yes, Nintendo did say there will be an entirely new character in Mario 128. No, it will not be Nintendo's new mascot. No, they didn't mean an entirely new franchise with this character, but I'm fairly certain they'll create a fresh IP for the Revolution. And no Solstice, this new character being the player him-/herself was just your own theory, not something Nintendo said.

Ninty doesn't have to announce for us they are macking new IPs. it is very much a given. a new generation requires new blood. obviously nothing can match the popularity of the current mascot or you would have seen others like Zelda and what not taking the light spot. actually, the little fat plumber is the most popular character in the world, even more famous than Micky Mouse.

in any case, Ninty really need to speed up their releases.
