Sony's Emotion Engine was the cornerstone of their marketing at one time. Now it's the cornerstone of a lawsuit.
When the PlayStation 2 was released much of the hype was based around Sony's new technology, which they called the Emotion Engine. That same Emotion Engine is now the cause for some concern.
It has been reported today that the University of Wisconsin has filed a lawsuit against Sony and Toshiba. The Lawsuit claims that the University of Wisconsin patented something called miniature-fabrication in 1986. According to the University, Sony's Emotion Engine violates that patent.
The University is suing for damages and is attempting to bar Sony and Toshiba from using the technology in the future. No word on how much money in damages the University is asking for.
