I don't see why everyone is so afraid of these things. If it's not gonna cost you anything you might as well try right?

its stupid because all of your referals have to do the thing before you get yours....and you know all your referals are not going to.

I was gonna try that but I decided not to. How do these organizations make money? Sell your information or something?

That's not entirely true. I've done several of these sites (including one for a free DS) and have gotten several hundreds of dollars... actually more than $1000 of free money/stuff. You don't give out any comprimsing information besides your email to any company you don't want to give it out to. Companies like Blockbuster, AOL, Netscape, Netflix, etc. are available to for you to sign up. When you sign up, they send your affiliate site "credit" and generally between $30-$50 for the advertising. That is how the affiliate sites pay. I'm sure some of them sell your info. And certainly you get tons of spam.

I'm actually signed up to quite alot of these and don't get spam as far as I am aware
And you can't actually get spyware unless you download/run something.

But in any event, whats going to cost more - an Xbox360, or a Spam filter

Yea referals are long cause everyone I know is all - oh my dad said no - so I gotta find other people.
