I recently, or yesterday got to play the x360 in a mall in leeds.
im putting it in this topic point as its valid for nintendos views for revolution.

we walked in and it looked really cool, they had a handfull of games we could play, perfect dark zero, tony hawks, dead or alive, nba live 06, some footbalgame..

The games looked amazing! and the Hd:tvs made such a difference. The best looking game was nba in my opinion, but my friend who played perfect dark was raving about the detail, but even said that it seemed to be overdone. The staircase had a scratch in it and you couild see the layers of paint and dust and stuff on it.

now on to my point
i instanty rushed in and played someone at doe. within a second i was playing it like i have had it for ages. (a bit of an exxageration, as i wasnt amazing at the game but still good enough)
then i went to tony hawks, and from the moment i picked it up to the moment i put it down 3 mins in, i had 400000points. I can say, that it didnt let me revert which really annoyed me.
the point i made, which my friend agreed with me, is that its nothing special or new, its just an upgrade. There is no game play dynamics that are different, the controller, well is still not as good as the gc controller.

So although it looks fantastic!...its nothing thast will convince me to rack out the money to buy it, It actually made me more eagre for the revolution itself.

lol... some football game.

i pretty much agree with you. i am buying one just to sell it on ebay. they are not worth the purchase unless you already have a high def tv, which i dont. And the controller i think is overrated. its a ps2 controller in xbox form pretty much. nothing really innovative, and i thought it was too small(all though that could change after an hour or two of playing it). i like the GC controller a lot better.

I was telling people this months back, and there were those that insisted upon arguing with me. I told them that the games will pretty much just be prettier versions of the same types of games we've been playing on the present generation. Heck, if you look at the Xbox 360 launch titles, many are also on present generation consoles, like Need for Speed Most Wanted (which I just bought for my present Xbox). Anyway, there were folks that insisted that the Xbox 360 was going to be doing stuff dramatically different from what we've been playing, but if that's the case than it must be in stuff that's a few years down the road because it sure as heck isn't in the near future.

The wife of an old college buddy and close friend of mine (matrix7 (http://forums.e-mpire.com/member.php?u=3508)) is supposedly interested in the Xbox 360, though she's never really been too thrilled about video games before, but it must just be the pretty graphics that are driving her interests because, other than improved visuals, the games are stuff that are already on the present generation of consoles or stuff that at least could have been. Nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary; just better graphics.

Dislike:

I played one as well I was not impressed the graphics are horrible. It was displayed on a flat LCD screen by Samsung and you can see aliasing, artifacts, and many textures are really bad. However this could also be because the TV used sucked and I believe it was not a HDTV as well.

I sense that the system will look good on HDTVs but look horrible on standard TVs. Yes, I know it goes against normal thought but that is what I sense.

What I like:

The audio and the visual effects used in games are impressive but other than that "more of the same". Also I liked that the games seemed to run smooth with a high frame rate. I liked the Kong Demo in the chase mode with the rain and the wind blowing the bushes.

^i believe it was 1up that did a comparison with nba live with different tv outputs. They said unless you have hdtv, the game looks like any other basketball game on xbox.

As it will be the same for the ps3. But many people enoy those type of games for now (thats why i'm getting the 360 I still enjoy using the controller etc). But after a while, when the revolution comes out and people see the things that can be done, more people will want change. People will get tired of the sequels and just prettier graphics, although the 360 and ps3 also have better phsyics, ai, particles, ai etc. The games are bassically going to be played the same.

I am really admiring what nintendo is doing and its something I have wanted for a long time. I have always wanted a 'power glove' of sorts that actually worked and had awesome response. That is actually what I thought the rev controller would be and I was pretty close. If the majority of people will accept it or not, we will have to wait.

With companies like Bioware X360 will still be worth playing. I'm not bashing but all we're getting is better graphics.

I played call of duty two on the xbox 360 at best buy. I agree, the graphic's aren't that special. Also I didn't like the controller...its too light..

I actually had a lot of fun with King Kong. Too bad I'll be getting it for PC instead, if I do get it.

ya the 360 is great but i personally didn't even think about the graphics part, i swas always more excited about better physics, bigger worlds, bigger battles. I know the graphics will be better but that jump isn't what i was looking for and none of the launch games actually show what I AM looking for so i will wait.

With Revolution though you get a whole new experience and it will be like starting gaming all over again and that is what drew me in with the DS. I have noticed though i haven't picked up my xbox for months now because im just sick of runnin around and shooting things. All you do is play the same games in different environments and characters. So Rev is actually gettin me pumped and ready for video games again, just like the DS has with handheld gaming.

You know what? The best game on Xbox was Halo (that counts 1 & 2). Know what the only great game on Xbox360 will be? Yep. Halo. That's why people are buying it. For Halo. I never liked Halo. But so many people do. That's the only explanation I can muster up about why people are buying the 360... besides the obvious reason in that they want to be able to say "I have a 360!! I'm uber!!" Reminds me of Dreamcast days... interesting.

Anyway, I just want to say I've been ticked off today (xbox360 release day) mainly because of the coverage its been getting and how people talk about it. It's nothing new. Especially if you're a PC gamer. Most of those titles are on PC or the PC has those types of games arleady. Whats the revolutionary thing of the 360? Online things to do, or so people say. But, still that doesn't win me over at all. So far, I've played all those games that are out on the 360 before, years ago. Except Kameo, but that was supposed to come out 5 years ago. And Kong? It's coming out for all consoles. The Xbox360 may have the hardware, but they have pointless software. "But wait!" they say "We have an RPG title so we can attract Japan audience!" they say. Well I say "Final Fantasy XI online came out 2 years ago, you idoits. Geez.

And furthermore (continuing rant, hehe) I don't know why anyone would want to pay 400$ for a prettier "same ole same ole" when they can speand 200 bucks later for a revolution. New way to play, free simple online, 20yrs of games to download, CONTROLLER!! Sometimes I think people are just born stupid....

To me Xbox's always smelled like burnt plastic. No joke. One time my friend brought his to my house and it smelled like something odd.

I played Call of Duty 2 and for about 2 minutes I was like, "woah that looks pretty damn good" and about 10 minutes later after I was done I was thinking that I was still playing Xbox 1. Final verdict...there still will be great games to acomodate this system that will make me want to play it...but none that will possibly get me to shell out $500 for it. Anyway....moved to Xbox forum.
