View Full Version : Adult Content in Videogames?
What's your view on this subject?
I think its a bunch of crap. The ESBR does a good job puting ratings on videogames ... there is no need for parents to cry when their little son brings home a rated M game. It's like watching a rated R movie ... parents seem to restrict their children from that but they don't seme to care about videogames.
That's when we got big senators and crap making a big deal about videogame violence and the adult content.
If BMX XXX has adult content, simply don't buy it. But don't make a fuss over it. There are plenty of movies that got "exposure" in them and I don't see anyone making a fuss over that.

Yeah, if it's okay with real actors in movies/tv, why not computer-generated characters?

Yeah i agreee with kliq, no one is forcing them to buy it, so just don't. It's as simple as that.

Did any of you hear that lieberman may be running for US President next election? You know what that means - "The video game industry has consistently failed to establish a dependable content evalutation process for software depicting abuse of women, unnecessary carnage and artillery. This lackadaisical effort will not be tolerated."
And the next thing you know it, that EBgames near you will go up in flames, and sadly, Mario's water pack won't do a goddam thing.

Video games will never be banned, simple as that. Look how big the industy is..
Adult content is fine in games as long as the ESRB gives a proper rating to it, which they most likely always do.
However, I'm not going to buy a game just because of adult content. Sorry Acclaim. :(
Yea, I buy a game more on gameplay.
Than again, Japanese seem to be loving Dead or Alive Volleyball .... which only consists of 20% of volleyball action.

i think it's just a cheap way to win public approval because most of the people that hate video games are voting age and a majority who play them can't vote yet....I agree with Kliq when he said if they don't like it don't buy it...people hate a lot of things but just because some don't like it doesn't mean it needs to be banned

GTA3 wasn't banned in australia
the version of GTA3 has just been toned down in the violence department. both GTA3 and VC have been released here in aus. i've got the american version tho cos it sux when they edit stuff out.
oh and perhaps the ratings system is diff for games and movies because, kids can buy adult rated games without needing to present id, whilst they can't get into adult movies (not legally anyway)...so seriously i don't think they are gonna change the ratings system anytime soon. unless they start askin the local video game stores to start checking id. lol that would suck so bad
Why would they edit stuff? It's like they don't trust you guys.

god dam FOOL! hyper ridiculed all the people who got importes including from NZ just to see some car shake from side to side other than that it was the same. (still there should be an R rating)
Australia does not allow any R rating, it means that even though we are huge buyers of electronics inc sotware it put's us last behind other "SMART" countries that allow such game no BMX XXX for us (not a version you would recognise)
We allow other types of filth into this country for perverts, why not for gamers. (typicaly R games use some gimic to get buyers like nudity or xxx horror though not gameplay)

I agree with thee, Kliq.
Many people are driven by fear, desire and greed.
Those who fear their children turning into fiends shall whine and complain in despair,
doing anything in their power to defend their offspring from such evil.

Regardless of how many lonely, hormonal guys there are that get thrilled by "adult" content in games, it really will never have a place in it, never belonging. If somebody wants "adult" action, they can get a porno video. Gaming serves another purpose, one not needing "adult" content.

Fear lies in what you don't understand, that is why so many don't like games, but that is why the ESRB is in place, after all if it is rated M anyone not 17 shouldn't be able to play it. I cannot believe that, supposedly, some people don't know what E,T,M, stand for.
