Major Surprise - Release date related ?

"When asked if there would be any changes to the February PS3 event where playable demos will be on hand, Saeki did not respond directly. However, he did say that SCE is planning something for the event that is sure to be a "major" surprise. When we later asked him about this major surprise he reacted by asking when we thought the ps3 will be released, we responded saying some where around may or june. Saeki then looked at us with a grimacing face and laughed saying "oh, you'll see, you'll see........."

I am unaware of the source but it looks likely that the 'surprise' is an early release date. 'you'll see' - confidence tells me that it is most likely a worldwide release - reason being, it would hardly be exciting news of a spring time release in Japan, then US in the summer, and Europe later.

Have i deduced to much , is such an early release possible.?

The actual February 'surprise' quote happened months ago, and it's been discussed here on this forum on and off. In fact I think there was a recent thread wondering where the info/rumor for the Feb Surprise came from in the first place. That thread was fairly useful to me if only because I myself had forgotten as well.

An early release could be it, but I'm not too convinced just yet. Sony said that the surprise was for gamers and not average consumers. So I'm still thinking what could be such a surprise for gamers to look forward too but is also a close guarded secret.
