the oppertunity for the ps3 to just blow anything away is there.
with ps3 online:
-online gaming (im a big xbox live gamer, love it don't know how people can live without it)
-download all the psone and ps2 games cheap maybe even psp demo ports or something. it would be awsome to get sega to jump in and offer sega games)
-video HD content with your psonline account watch anything with your friends. could you imagen moving a movie you made from your computer over the net to share with your friends on your ps3 then stream it to your friends psp.
-something new they have the holographic tvs and such and the magic wand thing but imagen playing a FPS in full 3D with bullets flying past your head OMG.

i dont know why some of this just finaly sank in but i cant belive they could blow 360 away if they do everything they can to make it the most futuristic thing ever. with like a head set that you could use with photorealistic integrated virtual reality, i would pay 200 to mess with full 3D gaming and HD stuff and just everything

I think you may be stretching a little with the whole holographic thing (at least and next gen).

Although I would agree, Sony has all the ability in the world to put together an intense online experience with the PS3 and hopefully they are moving towards this with their launch coming up.

I would rather not have holographic. All that stuff would be too much. Step by Step first.

About the online... I would be pleased if they had just some basic features:

Buddy list
Be able to talk to all my friends through any game
One Universal Username
Easily accesible
Free

If I have just that I will be very pleased.

That hit you like a ton of bricks?
Shouldn't you be in hospital or somethin?

I just can't see that last one happening... well I can but, headsets have been around for a while. I saw one in the argos catelouge it just said it would be like a 50 inch plasma screen.
PS3 could blow 360 away with what it has already (in terms of hardware) good games and a good online system. Thats all you need. 1 up it everytime. Or in the case of people who say moores law is too slow, 20 up it every time.

The other stuff is cool. In my experience downloading things of large size sucks. Downloading Mandriva takes hours and thats the size of a PS2 game. IF they had the information streaming to you that might be alright, but you'd have to think of the limitations on broadband providers that over book bandwidth as to make extra money when people are not online. If PS3 became popular in this way, these companies would have big problems.

And wouldn't bullets flying past your head be a bit scary.
A buddy list would be uber cool. Voice chat any time would be too.
I'd just so like for my to be playing, message my pal jonny telling him I will take him down in Pro evo in 5 minutes, switching game, and playing. IT would just be too cool, and with the Linux OS idea sony are throwing around it sounds like a distinct possibility. Can't wait till febuary to see the thing running.

EDITED.
Reason: Apparently, someone found the "t"-word insulting reported it. (And it was pretty much a one word spam anyways)

If they were to have psone and ps2 games downloadable you would need a pretty sizeable hard drive. Didn't they already say the HDD would not come standard?

Actually they never said it would or would not be standard, Ken only said the minium is 40-80 GB(i think its the former..or was it the latter?). and it comes with Linux preinstalled!! :D

IMO, i think they are going to have a uniform online service for the PSP, PS2, PS3 and it'll be free with universal ID tag, buiddy list,IM. They can do all of the above without a HDD, they can use their own Cell storage server for that stuff.

Im so used to playing online games for free on the PC and PS2, i think its odd that we have to pay for it(aside from MMORPG) along with our own ISP bill. too many bills!!

If they couple the PS3 with the new EyeToy as a standard, it would even open up more gameplay possiblitie, it might even worry Nintedo :)

Sony holding their cards close to their chest is very smart, let your opponent show his hand first, than out do them in everyway.

Im on xbox live almost everyday...and i most say that i love it....i really wish Sony's online plan be similar, or even better. I would pay 50 a year for it.....hey..they have bills to pay too right?

I wouldn't mind paying either for an online plan from Sony as long as they don't jack up the price every year.I think a paid plan is best considering we will probably get what we pay for instead of a free service.

I don't think they are going to be able to implement that on the ps2 now. It's a little too late.
