Funny this is always used to bash PS3 on xbot boards. It looks just fine to me.

I still dig out the old N64 for a bit of Star Wars EP1 Racer, a high def version would be just great. More power to Koei.

I'm pretty sure all those picture are from the original video. The second video looked nothing like the original, hopefully when it is release it will play like the first video.

those screens are bs. it's from the cg video. watch the in-gameply video and it looks horrible.

I'm not all that impressed with those screens myself, it just seems to lack something...

This is sure a different kind of game. Those screens do look nice though, it will be interesting to see what the real time gameplay will look like.

No,no it looks fairly smooth... I'm just not sure but it just doesn't cus the mustard for me. Perhaps my prespective will change once I see it in motion.

I think a lot of "the look" that just doesn't seem to fit is that the bright colorful car is set against a drab desert instead of a futuristic city like a wipeout game would be. I think that the game looks superb, and I don't know how they could improve the look except for maybe the exhaust system. I'm not saying this is the star of the PS3 but for its genre the game looks great. Now if someone could post a link to the crappy second video you guys are talking about it would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: And on second thought this does look a lot like a Star Wars racer!

I'm still on the bubble with this game... Not sure what to think yet. I have to see gameplay footgate. But I will admit the idea of it and from what I've read sure sounds enticing.

Thanks for the link, to my surprise it does actually look better in motion. I believe the reason I wasn't too keen on it was because it, sort of, reminds me of some old game way back on the PS1.

Actually I never really took the time to notice but... Those little fairies at the end kind of freak me out.

i can't remember where i saw the other video. maybe gametrailers.com or maybe some european gaming site or something. but it was a tech demo, maybe from e3, showing actual gameplay being done, and it looked crappy. nothing like the trailer. which btw, whereever i saw the other one, they had a much, much better video. like, HD quality.

No, Im pretty sure those are in-game assets in that trailer. The "in-game" video they showed was obviously extremly early and bare bones. They didnt have their physics model in place, particles, water, atmospheric fx, nothing. They just showed the basic assets and moving around in the gameworld. I bet its starting to look a lot closer to the "target video" at this point. Not sure why they even bothered showing such a rough draft in the first place.

I think for that trailer they were using a similar technique to Heavenly Sword, Gundam etc. IE taking the in-game assets and "speeding them up" to what they believe will approximate the final product. Just a hunch.

Anyway the reason why Im excited for this game isnt really anything to do with graphics, its the physics model they're working on for the hovering, aerodynamics and deformable terrain. KOEI Canada is developing the game but they're also heavily collaborating with Sony on their physics engine. The stuff they were talking about like deforming the terrain to affect the race in real-time, and using grappling hooks to manuever through tight turns or alter your opponents flight path sounded pretty cool. Cant wait to see how it comes together.

I think the trailer looks completely in-engine, the only thing that looks a bit iffy is the water and smoke effects.

Here's HD footage of the trailer:

Nah, Wipeout's art style was much, much cooler...;)

Well mainly the in game videos looked early. The whole thing was Koei saying "Look at us, we got the first demo of a PS3 playing a real game".

I have no intention to judge this game until it's in a retail box.

to me, it is my unofficial Wipeout. it is all I got for PS3 in the future racer genre.
it also has cool ideas on how they use physics based weapons and environments. I hope it works out in the final game. all in all, the game is interesting.

I Dont Get Why People Just Cant Understand The Fact That Ps3 Can Produce Those Graphics, And For People To Say That Just The In Game Tech Demo Was Crappy Is Just Funny Because If You Already Look At Mgs4 You Already Know What The Final Version Is Going To Look Better Than That Crappy Ass Pgr 3. Not Hating On Pgr3 Just Saaying It Couldve Been Better If They Had More Time To Work On That 60fps, But All I Have Been Reading From People Is Just Ps3 Fanboy Based Stuff, I Mean I Dont Blame You Guys Cause I Am One Too. But I Just Wanted To Say This For The First Time As A Member Here. Just Because People Dont Post, There Are Many Others Out There That Are Reading You Guyes Post. But Anyways Fatal Inertia Is Going To Be One Of Those Diamonds In The Ruff Games. But I Asure That Itll Be One That Is Going To Be A Classic. Peace Out You Guys.
