Media Consumption: MotorStorm's Andy Gahan (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=7532)

Today’s Media Consumption, a weekly column that digs deep to find out what our favorite game developers have been devouring in the four basic media food groups of audio, video, printed word and games, speaks to Evolution Studios Producer Andy Gahan.

Gahan has spent the last four years working on the World Championship Rally series for Evolution. Prior to this, he had a hand in GTC Africa for the PlayStation 2, as well as a good number of flight and military training simulations. Currently, Gahan is acting in the role of producer for MotorStorm, which is currently in development for the PlayStation 3.

Sounds: "I’ve been listening to We Are Scientists," said Gahan, referring to the Brooklyn-based band who describe their output as "rock music of the thoughtful, sometimes epic, often loud, vaguely danceable, implicitly humanist variety." "I caught them live last week at Manchester University," said Gahan. "Watch this space, they’re gonna be massive." Gahan has also been enjoying European futurist duo Client and Finland-based metal band Children of Bodom.

Moving Pictures: "I don’t really watch much TV," said Gahan, "though I’m following 'Lost’.' I also really enjoyed ‘The Deadliest Catch’ on Discovery - it’s about the king crab fishermen in Alaska. It was really interesting." Gahan's also been viewing a number of motocross and all-terrain vehicle themed DVDs. "The guys featured in them are crazy," he said. "Paul Smith from ‘Fast By Design’ has been helping me a lot with MotorStorm. He's a top bloke and pro motocross rider."

Words: "I’ve been reading a lot of extreme sports magazines, Motocross and ATV stuff, researching MotorStorm," said Gahan, "and I’ve been to a few live events." Gahan also regularly reads 3D animation magazine HDRI 3D. "The books I’ve been reading have been mostly project related too," he said. "Seth Godin has some interesting stuff to say in 'Purple Cow,' 'Free Prize Inside' and 'All Marketers are Liars.'"

Games: "I’ve been looking a lot at MotorStorm," said Gahan, referring to the PlayStation 3 game he is producing, "and I’ve also been judging this year's Independent Games Festival. There have been some great games this year, and I’ve had a lot of fun playing them. I love being able to just fire up a game, having no idea what it’s going to be like and being pleasantly surprised. I’ve been up very late playing some of them." Gahan says he's also been playing a lot of World Of Warcraft on the PC, and has just started Resident Evil 4 on his PlayStation 2.

Worse posted news ever, if i wanted to know about game development i'll read HIDEOBLOG ..rofl. No mention of Motorstorm the game at all...

Gahan might want to start a blog on that stuff, they sounds like blog material...but i could never trust a guy that read HDRI 3D ...yuck. Of all the 3D related mag, he picks the worse one.

Stop wasting your dam time playing game, you fool.. go work on your MotorStorm! lol
