February 1, 2003 - We at Konami are pleased to announce the next evolution of Dance Dance Revolution- online competition.
The immense success and vast popularity of all markets for this series of games has been nothing short of phenominal, and this next step in gameplay innovation is certain to be a hit with fans. On track for a Q3 2004 cross-platform release, players will be able to connect to our online "Dance Dance Game Server" system for a small, unannounced monthly fee and compete with up to four players at a time over the internet. There are plans to give away prizes to the best DDR players every month, as well as keep track of all player's statistics in order to best match opponents for online duels.
Dance Dance Revolution Online will also mark the first ever DDR experience on the Nintendo Gamecube and Microsoft X-Box home consoles, and a special bundle will be made available for gamers on these systems. For a North American retail price of $89.99, players will be able to buy Dance Dance Revolution Online, the Dance Dance Revolution dance pad, and 1 month free on the Dance Dance Game Server.
A playable demonstration of the Nintendo Gamecube version will be on hand at this year's E3 convention in Los Angeles, California. Press release screen shots will be made available in the days leading up to the event.
