Got this from Arslan/AManInJapan/BlackPanther

Word. Obviously influenced by the Zodiac and N-Gage. But SO much better.

That concept art is laughable....

It looks okay, but I think the left hand side should be fixed cause it doesn't look comfy.

looks like they are on the right track.
i like the idea of having a big gaming screen

aesthetic wise, it look pretty alright.
...eh, but it kinda looks like a sunglasses case.

If that ends up being the final concept, people are gonna hate it. Notice how thin it is, nice but it's too thin as that metal trim lining the edges will leave ligature type marks on your palms. It also leaves no room for shoulder buttons, much less 4 of them.

The key chain idea is stupid. Do you really want that thing scratching around in the same pocket as your keys?

This may be concept art but it isn't very well conceived.

Exactly. A $400 keychain? lol

$150, or around there.

And I think the Zodiac will do worse than the N-Gage. :)

The zodiac is already worse then the N-Gage

Haris
11-07-2003, 03:35 AM
Not spec-wise. But the price and lack of publicity will crap on Zodiac's head.

japand00d

Yeah

PSP > GBASP > Zodiac > N-Gage

Dorbin
11-10-2003, 02:15 AM
Yeah

PSP > GBASP > Zodiac > N-Gage

Well, I definitely agree about the GBASP being better than Zodiac and N-Gage, but I'll have to wait and see the games on the PSP before I make any judgement on whether it'll be better than GBA.

Haris
11-10-2003, 04:22 AM
Yeah

PSP > GBASP > Zodiac > N-Gage

Thank you, come again.

Dorby, nice av.

I saw a differnt concept design that looked extremely like GBASP in the latest issue of EGM......what is that all about?

Dorbin
11-11-2003, 04:17 AM
Didn't see that. Wouldn't surprise me if Sony tries to copy Nintendo though.

I like the way it looks... I want to see the analog stick that they promised... I'm definitely going to get one of these.

And the graphics look awesome, from what the screen shows there.

Haris
11-11-2003, 04:28 AM
Sony wouldn't try to copy the GBA. I can't wait for the PSP...

Dorbin
11-11-2003, 04:35 AM
Yeah, your right, probably not. It wouldn't make sense, but my point is Sony is just a sneaky company, at least in my opinion. I've always kinda held a grudge against Sony, for a few different reasons, so I like to make fun of them. But thats wearing off...I've considered buying a PS2 before. *shock!*

Haris
11-11-2003, 04:50 AM
I don't want a PS2, I think Sony should wait until the next MS and Ninty systems come out and release their system simoultaneously (SP?!). Then, Sony has an even bigger advantage because it won't SUCK so much. I love Sony. I think they rock at everything they make.

Dorbin
11-11-2003, 07:16 PM
Yeah, I think Sony plans on waiting until Microsoft releases their system, then they will release theirs. By that time, Nintendo's system will already be out; therefore, unlike this generation, the next generation Sony machine will be roughly as powerful as the competing machines.

Haris
11-11-2003, 07:19 PM
And if Ninty releases first, they'll suffer a fate worse than Sony did when they released first. First of all the bad rep from GameCube's sales and then releasing first. Ouch.

Dorbin
11-11-2003, 07:41 PM
Good point; Sega released the Dreamcast first and got screwed because of it. Hopefully a similar fate won't occur with Ninty; after all, Sony rebounded and obviously is kicking butt now.

PSP will kill GBA.

And Sega IS kicking ass. But not with consoles.

Dorbin
11-11-2003, 08:45 PM
They could be kicking more ass...it's my opinion that they need to step it up some more. Sonic Team's been slacking in my opinion...I'll have to see how Sonic Heroes comes out.

This is my prediction.
Sony will release the PSP with Playstation one quality graphics, and they will have to change that size witch they will. You just cannot succeed in the handheld gaming market with something that big and bulky. You need 4 things to be successful in handhelds.
1. Small Compact size
2. Inexpensive system 100 dollar maximum
3. Extremely large library of Children games
4. Advertisement where it counts, Saturday morning cartoons for example.
This doesn't mean that you cant have Adult oriented games, you just have to create a large enough Children user base to stay afloat, Nintendo has done this.

Held helds are different then consoles, or PC games. Rather than attracting adult gamers, you have to attract the young players.

In a nutshell teenagers and Adults buy Console and Computer games for themselves. But some teenagers buy handheld systems but the majority are bought buy Adults for their children, The key to being successful in handheld in young audience.

Sony's PSP and Nokia's N-GAGE will flop eventually.
Unless they choose to follow these 4 guidelines.

More than likely the next Nintendo Gameboy will have N64 quality games and will hit all 4 handheld guidlines, and therfore win the handheld war. Maybe after PSP and N-GAGE fall Microsoft will learn from this and follow Nintendo's recipe for handheld success more closely than it's predecessors.

I agree with the above post...But you said "Held Helds". That's gold.

And if Ninty releases first, they'll suffer a fate worse than Sony did when they released first.

Are you joking? Sony has really suffered since they sold 10x more consoles then MS or Nintendo. You really have no idea what you are talking about.

and

PSP will kill GBA.

Nigga please.

I don't think there is any way in hell that the PSP will only be $99. It'll at least be $150. Also, I think the PSP will appeal more to Adults than Children. And I don't think the next Gameboy will feature 64-bit graphics-that's a bit much, unless it doesn't come out for a couple years after PSP. It would have to if it wanted to remain anywhere near a $99 price point.

Yeah 'Slan you right about everything. I just like Sony. :)

is psp like play station one or something just portible?

Viper
11-14-2003, 05:59 AM
And I don't think the next Gameboy will feature 64-bit graphics-that's a bit much, Data path bit depth means very little anymore. Ex, PS2 - 128 bit......GC and xbox - 32 and 64 bit hybrids.

Bit rate got hyped by the classic systems but doens't designate the graphical quality. The Atari Jaguar was a 64 bit graphics engine remember? You need 4 things now to be graphicaly impressive, geometry, texture layering, resolution and speed, all of which do not require a high data bit depth.

Dorbin
11-14-2003, 03:15 PM
I was thinking the Jag was 32 bits...oh well, shows how much I know.

But yeah, bits hardly count for anything anymore, but they still generally give you an idea of how powerful a system is (to a certain point - the current generations bit counts don't mean anything). However, if they called it a 64 bit machine I imagine graphics somewhat close to N64....

Viper
11-14-2003, 05:40 PM
The Atari Jaguar had a 24 bit CPU and a 64 bit graphics engine. Try to get away from thinking 64 bit = N64 graphics, it's difficult because in the early days were compared systems were compared by bit depth. The bit depth is a data path, how much data can be transfered at once, it really never had anything to do with graphics to begin with.....it was all marketing to make it look better and it worked. It's still good that it can transfer data at 64 bits in one pipe but it has little value to the graphics if the engine itself sucks.

Just like the GC is 32/64 and the PS2 is 128 bits.....look at the difference.

The PSP could be 128 bit and still get stomped graphically by another 32 bit GB hand held.

Dorbin
11-14-2003, 06:13 PM
Well, I learn something new everyday. I knew that bits didn't mean diddly-squat nowadays, but I really wasn't aware of the irrevelant role they played in prior console wars.
