Okay, i've looked around the merry entertainment section, and theres nowt on dream theater 'cept for the odd mention.
If you havnt heard them, find "Metropolis Part 1: The Miracle and the sleeper" its basically the definitive dream theater track that has everything in one.

So here goes,
simply,
1, Do you like them?
2, if not why not?
etc

I love these guys, they are so influencing to me. The riffs gentle but also aggressive that always tell a story.
I've seen them live, and my god are they something to be open mouthed amazed at. And Myung put me into a trace when he started playing Panic Attack. His fingers move like lightening, just pure magic.

What do you mean?

Dreamtheater is like every 5th song in the "What's on your speakers now" Thread.

I stand rather corrected then.

I ment like a proper discussion about them then.

You've sort of killed points 1-9 with number 10 in your sig.

Dream Theater is a phenomenal band, I rediscover Scenes from a Memory Pt 2every time i listen to it, theres always a plot hook I didnt quite catch last listen. Images and Words has some of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, I find surrounded a really romantic song, along with Another Day. Myung is a brilliant bassist as you rightly mentioned, on Panic Attack the entry bass solo is something else. Octavarium is...hm Its difficult, I've listened to all their stuff so much, its certainly not their most intimate album but it has a lot of depth to it. Awake is probably my least favorite album, its redeeming songs are Caught in a Web and Innocence Faded.

Along with Rush this strikes a few chords and goosepimples whenever I hear some of their more intimate songs. Incredible bands/

I don't mind Dream Theater. I don't really like LaBrie's voice though, and I think they're incredibly overrated. Don't get me wrong, I think they're a good band, but they aren't THAT great.
