Sony Launches Music Label For Gay Artists
Sony Music and the founder of a gay cable network are forming a record label that will feature gay, lesbian and transgender musicians.

The label will be called Music With A Twist. It was co-founded by Matt Farber, who created the Logo channel to target gay audiences.

The label plans to use talent scouts to find emerging artists who have generated a buzz in the gay community and who have potential for mass appeal.

Financial terms fo the deal have not been disclosed.

Music With A Twist plans to sign artists covering a variety of music genres.

It will also release compilations of songs by established artists.

Rob Halford (judas priest) never needed a special record label for gay people. And he's still a bad ass.

What gets me though is.....transgender musicians? This is absolutley fucked up if you ask me.

I also thought to myself.........Well, there's no STRAIGHT RECORD LABEL!
Why then would a GAY/TRANSGENDERED RECORD LABEL need seclusion form ordinary labels? I think this is more of a publicity stunt to allow specific marketing to specific groups.

I'm still waiting for the day when WHITE MALES will have their specific marketing ploys.
WET(white entertainment television) or WMMA(white man movie awards) or even WM(white music)
(oh wait, we have golf courses YAY!)

Not trying to be racist(as I am not "racist," though I do discriminate against idiots) I just find little things like this humerous........

And just to add to your points D3adcell; QUEEN, Michal Jackson, and Janis Joplin all did fine

Yeah, I've never understood the whole, "We just want to be accepted....so we're going to start our own secluded everything."

Dumbasses (Goes for all those gender/race/etc...targeted societies and organizations).

Last I checked Tiger Woods (black/asian) and Vijay Singh (vietnamese) are leading in that...

Yeah, though I was talking about private/secluded golf courses, the only real realm in which the white man still has absolute power.(thats a joke, but you get the idea)

PGA is a totally different story.........

There's no need for this, look at Elton John, and we all know the best way to "be accepted" is to go off completely in the other direction of whats known, and become a attention whore. Retarded/Unnessicary. Very.

Everybodies forgetting the Wham with the George Michael?!? Love that guy...

But yeah, I'll just look at this as another record label, nothing really special about it. Also, I think I'd like to see a source just to read more or even find out where this has came from... Do you gots one?

news.google.com probably lists hundreds of AP links, and Sony's Official Press Site probably has it too, but here is the url to FOXnews (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,181452,00.html)

on that note, I am curios to see what kind of "compilations" they plan on doing.......

No, I don't mean that at all.
I have no opinion on them.

And I generally agree with people saying about "being treated equally" and "secluding themselves".
Although there is something to be said for resisting complete assimilation into a society.

I agree with you. There's also the silly pride thing as well. How can one be proud of a sexuality? Same thing goes for race.

I just don't get this whole record label thing. It probably is a publicity stunt as stated before.

Well gay pride isn't so much about being proud of being gay.
It's about being proud of being a person who is gay, regardless of what other people may think, or how they have been treated.
It's also about homosexuals having overcome intolerance, at least to the point where they're allowed to have a parade that celebrates homosexual people.
Because that a big step up from being executed for any homosexual activities.
If a flower flourishes from a garden, big deal.
If a flower flourishes from a crack in the concrete, that's special.
Same thing goes for race.

At least, I think so.

Alright, I see your point. I guess I've always viewed it as flaunting something.

I would sign to that label or would hope to be. It would be great to say "I was signed to the first Gay Label".
