I don't think Sonic would mess with the purity of the game. Remember EGMs 2002 april fools prank? They did it because they had an earlier interview were Yuji Naka said they were in talks to do it and he was very interested but there wasn't enough time.

Think realistically...theres only going to be nintendo characters in it. The only non-nintendo character that has a chance is Sonic (50% id say). Other than that, Mega Man and Pac Man (like 1%) would be the only ones possible that could make it.

make it a little more balanced, and put in whoever, just not pokemon. 4 was overkill. But if they do add more, beating shit out of more than 4 could still be fun i guess

I completely agree with the clones thing. Each character added should be a scratch build. I also don't want so many characters I go crazy... oh wait yes I do. I would like a large number of playable, unique people to be and to fight. I want to see Giga Bowser fight Mario. I want to see Fox battle Sonic. I want to see Samus battle Megaman.

Something I just thought of, could they make new characters available after release of the game by way of downloading them? That could bring even more cards to the table. I just pay a few bucks and get Spiderman or one of the little guys from Meteos.

To me, this list is the most likely, lots of the characters on that picture are incredibly unlikely not only because they're not Nintendo characters, but because they would be HIGHLY unbalanced. By pairing weak characters together, they become more balanced. Characters like the Animal Crossing kid wouldn't hash because they dont attack. Also, we're bever going to be able to avoid "Clones", Nintendo will want to pack in more characters without adding a ton more code in the game.

It's my opinion that a character that doesn't do battle somehow should not be in a game like SSBR.

Also, many Nintendo games haven't even been tapped for this.

But what I'd like to see also is more character styles.
Rather than just different colors, I'd like to be able to switch any character into any and all of their 2D forms (if applicable, y'know,) as well as any other styles they may have.
I'd like a Dark Link.
I'd like a crayon Yoshi.
I'd like a fully upgraded Mega Man.
I'd like pixels EVERYWHERE!
I'd like every single variation of Kirby's powers,
Like when he picks up a fireflower, on goes the flaming hat, and not only can he breath fire but also hurtle himself as a fireball into people.
Etcetera.

I'd also like the levels to have chooseable styles and themes as well.
Like the FZero level where you're on platforms would become a Mario Kart level.
The original Star Fox level (Corneria, I believe,) would be set in an arcade machine, with Space Invaders and Galaga aliens and ships flying around with lasers all over the place. Or STAR WARS!
The Ice Climbers level turned into a Worms: Armageddon level, complete with rising water, and worms shooting at each other.
Yoshi's levels turned crayon!
Zelda levels turned Celda!
Everything in PIXELS!

Speaking of new levels.
How about the original Mario Bros. levels, with an angry Donkey Kong throwing barrels down.
How about a Sim City level that is in a constant state of construction.
A Dr. Mario level inside the bottle with pills falling around (or on) you, and viruses dangerous to the touch (changeable to Tetris style.)
A Pac-Man level, with the Man himself, and ghosts too, preferably played with the whole maze taking up the screen just like the original game.

New items too.
Swords for swordfights.
Water bombs for water fights.
The magic flute from Mario 3 to change the level (but it might be best to keep this one always turned off.)
More Masks from Majoras something, for power-ups (extra speed, better mushroom sniffing, etc.)
A camera to flash and stun everybody looking at you.
Okay, now it's just getting dumb.

There's always someone that doesn't realize that SSB is an exclusive club, of sorts, that features Nintendo characters ONLY. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever will Sonic, Mega Man, or any non-Nintendo character EVER appear in a SSB game. That's like expecting Mario to show up in the next Dead or Alive game, or Mario to bring his kart and race in the next Gran Turismo. If the character isn't a Nintendo character, it isn't EVER going to be in Super Smash Bros.

But Sonic HAS been talked about bein in a game against Mario, and you saying Mario being in Dead or Alive or Grand Turismo isnt too much non sense, Link appeared in Soul Calibur and Pac Man was in the Arcade Mario Kart. It's very possible for a charater like Sonic or Pac Man to be in the next SSB, not 100%, but it is possible.

Many good people have been named, but what would make them so good to be in the game? Example: Would Sonic, yeah I said it; rely on his speed instead of smash moves? Would Bowser rely on his minions doing some long range attacks or something? Each character should be worked, reworked and made super unique. If I fight Fox, beat him and start a fight with Kirby I have to unload a whole different mess of strats to beat the pillow up. Melee did this well, but how could you expand on that and make the gameplay even better. Adding characters is one thing, but making them popular and fun to play with is Nintendo.

And what about moves? How many combos should be put into the game? Should your character get power ups of some kind? If so, what should it be and what should it do?

PS, do you think any of the new Metriod Hunter characters could make it in the game?
