I haven't ready any of them, but are they worth the read for fantasy enthusiasts? How do they compare to the movies that have been released so far?

The movies sucked compared to the books.
Sucked hard.
Althought the 4th movie was the best yet the book was still better.
But isn't that always the case?

You really should start reading them. They're the only books I read in my free time that arn't for school.

The 5th one was the worst one, I'd say skip it but you'd miss things in the next book.

only if you're a fanboy.
Or else, don't bother.
Although a great book to read is The Catcher in the Rye or Catch 22, and you've probably read this but Angels and Demons is incredible.

Very strange.

I had always read the books up until the 6th came out, at which point I gave up reading books and the internet sorta spoiled it.

Catcher in the Rye is good - deals with sucide and teenage emotional stuff

I suggest it if you want a good read, and also Red Sky at Morning.

Red Sky at Morning - set suring WWII with a family from Alabama staying in New Mexico while the father is fighting the war.

Alot of people are under the impression that they're kiddy books and don't want to read them because they are looking for a more mature read. Sure, the characters are kids, and the themes aren't as complex as The Lord of the Rings, but they are VERY well told stories. Also, the story starts getting darker with the third book. The character development is fantastic, and I've had trouble putting down any of the books.
