I really liked the entire collection of Star Wars novels and the furtherance of the stories, other than those I have read some Asimov books.

Yea, def. Star Wars. I read the Swarm War in December and I was a little puzzled by the direction that they have taken with the series in the last six months. I understand the new nine-book series, which will be kicked off by SW vet Aaron Allston in July, will be more space opera than sci-fi, which might bring the series full circle because it has become very grim and a bit on the preachy side.

The Golden Compass series.

It's a very original story.

I'd have to say Asimov's Foundation Series or Brin's Uplift Series.

For me there is no sci fi series that i enjoy more than the Star Wars books. My favorites are still the Han Solo 3 book saga where they talked about his life growing up before Episode 4

Does "I am Legend" by Richard Matheson count?

because if so, I vote for that one.

Great book!

Oh man, now that I think about it, those are my favorite. The first book is alot different than the rest, and it is the best one, but they are all awesome.

Song of Fire and Ice is a really great series so far, but it hasn't ended yet, so it might not as end as well as it started.

The Dune series. Don`t know about the books of Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson (or whatever), but the original 6 books written by Brian`s father Frank Herbert are really good i think.. I have also read some Ben Bova (asteroid wars) books, but they really aren`t that action-ish..

I am big on CS Lewis's Space Trilogy expecially the book Out of the Silent Planet. It is a good Science Fiction read and very diffrent too. Probably some of the greatist reads I ever had was with CS Lewis.
