Has anyone read this book. My sister got it for me for Christmas, and everyone says its really good. I haven't had time to read any of it yet though.
Is it good, and why?

It's really. I'm surprised you haven't read it for English class or something. But yes it's very well written. If I remember it's through the eyes of Holden somthing? he's insane and recalls dropping out of Pencey, a fancy university or college.

It's pretty good so far. I'm reading it for english class, and it's an easy read. My history teacher likes it as well, but she says it's more of a guy book. Holden begins the story when he gets kicked out of Pencey, a prep school, and the story moves on from there.

Holden Caufield...
I didn't like the book, this kid goes off and does stuff...meh...
I prefered "Into the Wild" at least Chris had more sense and got somewhere.

It's one of the better books chosen as part of the English curriculum here..
Its an alright book, i never really liked it too much though.

I found that a lot of people that enjoy this book would enjoy a more modern
Perks of Being A Wallflower.
I suggest you check it out and let me know what you think.
(btw, my english curriculim doesn't involve that book too much, either...at all. Unless your maybe in advanced classes)

I read the book two years ago, when I was still enrolled in the AP English program. I liked it a lot. Not so much because of the story, but rather because of the way it was written. Sure, Holden was a great character and it's easy to identify with him, but I really think that the best part of the book is the writing style.
I'd recommend reading it. The book is different from your average english class drivel, so you'd probably find it interesting at the least.

it was really good
holdens character weaknesses and insecuritues, and all that will be able to be relatable to any person.
when you read it, go through the book with the idea of the theme of holden as a child, opposed to how he tries to make you beleive

I just finished reading this book, and I absolutely loved it.
I identified with Holden in about 87 million different ways, because he's almost exactly like me.
The only thing I didn't really like was the end.
