Surprisingly better. Still not the best, and of course it is still beta, but miles from the first beta thats for sure.
IE now offers tabbed browsing (finally), improved security, and the real surprising feature is that it has been quicker than FF and using less RAM than FF. It also has some nice integrated RSS features. It still has the same old find/search feature, which I believe FF rocks with, searching on the fly.
Here is a pic from a friends PC showing the mem usage of both FF and IE7b2

You can play with the beta here...http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/ie7betaredirect.mspx
Remember, this is Beta software, you have been warned
Also, there is an already known bug that is open to a DoS attack, which can allow the running of arbitrary code or crash the browser... http://www.security-protocols.com/advisory/sp-x23-advisory.txt
This is the same vulnerability found in versions of iTunes and Quicktime... http://www.security-protocols.com/advisory/sp-x21-advisory.txt
Enjoy!

Your pic isn't displaying.
I think I'll run with the Fox a while longer.

And there we are.
Not bad. Much better than before. I guess just far too many features about FF I like to go back. Being open source makes it hell to compete with.
Looks cool, I might replace FF if it lives up to a good standard.
I'll switch back and forth. Some sites still don't display corretly with Firefox.
I think Microsoft is getting ahold of it's "stuff."
It's actually not that bad looking, but I think that I'll stick to Firefox while I'm using Windows.

Looks kinda nice, but I still like Safari the best.
^Yeah, same here. I've become so used to using Safari. I dread having to use IE when I get into college when I've been using Safari for so long.

I'm an Avant convert, I used to use Firefox but its incompatability's made me switch. Avant is just a shell of IE to make it like Firefox, it works great!

^Same here. I rarely ever see a site that can't work in FF and it's usually an older site that was coded to IE spec instead of W3C spec.
The only time i every use IE is for YTMND or the CMS (it displays better in IE).
wow, lots of abbreviations.

FF still works for me on those too though for the CMS I use the paste option in the edit menu tab at the top.

My girlfriend hated FireFox until she learned about tabbed browsing and the download manager. She had a techie visit her place to install a cable modem and proudly proclaimed she's a FireFox user. The techie wanted to use IE to set the modem up. She removed all icons and default integration as she could. It pissed the tech off to no end.
Tabbed browsing is my browser crack.

21 sites in a folder. Open in Tabs. New window. Repeat.

Back when Mozilla etc wasn't popular, I would find alot of IE only sites. Not so much anymore. Plus Firefox now has a tool for reporting bad coded sites. Though I've never used it...

So THAT'S Why quicktime movies from Limewire always Fuck up my PC! That is one of the main reasons I hate .mov
oh and on the IE7 stuff, cool. IE is finally catching up (almost) with Firefox. I was just about to delete it entirely from my PC till I saw some of the features fixed.

Quicktime sucks.
That is all.

Because the added features of no scanning and no playback of audio/video or both after pausing is GODDAMN SEXY.
Miyahon
02-10-2006, 03:19 AM
You know waht else is sexy? A vulnerability that is never patched so infinite browsers can be opened or closed just by running a video. Or huge file sizes on a file type that can only be played by a select few media players, or the inability to go full screen and get rid of those pretty pretty media players sides.
But to each his own.

Hey, I could care less about your security problems. And yes, you can run .mov through iTunes, full screen for free. Not to sound uppity, just FYI.

I never use Itunes, it doesn't have anything else I want. BTW that browser problem can happen to you too. Mac has huge back doors, just because no one specailizes in it doesn't make you invulnerable, it just makes you complacent to attack and less compatible with fun new programs.
Oh yeah and video audio playback is fine as long as your not streaming.... oh wait you don't stream do you?
and yeah that no scanning thing does piss me off. But otherwise I like it. Honestly the only reason I keep quicktime on my PC is for scanning but I have some other players i can use for that too.

No, streaming is the worst idea ever.

I hate quicktime with a passion. Now they force you to get iTunes along with it...

Oh yeah? I can do you one worse. Update to the new AIM, and you get the AOL browser along with it, and it opens a window EVERYTIME YOU LOG ON TO AIM!
I HATE AOL!

You hate a lot of things. Shut up.

Don't make me add you to the list.
Need I really start with my list of complaints with AOL? I warn you I had them for a year on 56k.

There is a small link on teh main page that allows you to get it without iTunes.

I'm using IE7 beta right now. I'm new to it but I love it. This and Firefox are my 2 main browsers.

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.htmlI've known this sucker from my dial up days. I wanted to get QT and burn it to a CD at a friend's with broadband. The installer back in the 6.5.1 days was a web installer otherwise.
zoom, adblocker, tabs, speed, low power.
It's the next best thing to Firefox
