View Full Version : Has anybody else noticed this?
When you see kids at your highschool who are real young: the 9th, 10th, and most 11th graders (hell, even some 12th graders) they all form these little cliques, right? You all know that, you've been through school. Well, you know why they do it, right? Of course, it has a little bit to do with their personalities and all that but moreover it is because they want to feel accepted by their peers. They want to all wear the same type of clothes because it makes them feel like they belong to something. It makes them feel noticed. Etc. etc.
Anyways, there comes a time in practically everybody's life where they realize "hey, you know, I don't have to be like all these people, I should just act on my own." You've heard of people going through an identity crisis, right? Well, for most people it happens first during their adolescent years when they begin maturing into the adult mindset. It starts as simple rebellion against authority and with association with a group of friends and it all ends with a brand new individual formed from a want to escape the mold of society. Or perhaps a will to simply fit in with society. Either way, there really is no escape from the world anywas, so just deal with who you are and do what you want to do. That's all that's important anyways, you know, doing the things that please you. Hell, don't even worry about your goals getting accomplished or not, just live and be happy you're alive and do the things you want. What I mean by not worrying about your goals I mean that don't set your expectations too high only to be let down (more or less dropped, actually, in some situations). Yeah, it's a lot better to just let good things come to you rather than trying to find them. It seems like if you really need something it will somehow be attracted to you sometime.
And that's all I have to say.

Yes I have a question, is your sig picture real or done with some kind of dummy eye?
I never had a clique, but I do have a group of friends, I guess a lot of them are kinda emo, but they're a little too depressed.
My sig picture is from the movie Un Chien Andalou. That particular scene was accomplished by filming a close-up of the slicing open of a calf's eye.

Ah, thanks for that clarification, I had been wondering. It's damn well done.

Uhhh.. no I go with a clique because they are my friends. Not because "I'm trying to be like them."
Friends, right. How many of them will you still talk to after you graduate? Seriously.

About 8 of them still. Though a few more than others.
Hey, I even married one.
Right, I talk to about 4 of the people I know that were friends with me before they graduated last year. But back when they were still at the high school I talked to at least 20 of them. And now that I'm a senior, I guess that I'll probably end up keeping in contact with about 4 or 5 of my good friends from school. Along with about 4 or 5 from other places outside of school.
High School is just a transition.

word, highschool really did accomplish much for me besides helping me get into the whole "higher education" thing.
I still talk to a few (5-6)?, but even in high school, I knew most of my friendships were pretty transient.

Back in middle school all the way through college I hung out with my good freinds. We called our selfs the Square Boyz. It was more liek a cult then a clique though :)

Just because I may not talk to some them after school doesn't mean they aren't my friends. What, should I "be myself" and not hang out with my "clique" so that I do nothing on weekends? Uh, no.

The only reason most of my friends stayed together is becuase we all go to the local community college. It's like my close firends form high school (square boyz) are now my drinking buddies :p
but yeah 75% of the people you know in high school you wont see after you graduate

no shit? was the calf alive when they did that to it? anyways, High School is full of posers. in 5-10 years they'll come to a realization of how truely gay they looked and acted. Don't follow anyone but yourself.

True. they aren't friends just for college, but friends for life. I hope that I don't just forget them, because we have had too much fun together.

College rocks.
Fuck that, I dont have to wear certain clothes and listen to certain music to be accepted. Today i see lower classmen wearing skater clothes, especially the fat kids. I hate people like that, just because you wear certain clothes made by companies for skating dosnt make you one. Hell I wear skate shoes but thats about it. I dont wear big time company clothes. POSERS.

I know the kinds of kids you are taking about. I skateboard and I wear the "skater cloths" all the time. Honest to god does it really matter? I want to personally bitch slap everyone that utters the word poser
Yeah, I used to think "hey, if I wear so-called 'cool clothes' and shit then I can be 'cool' myself." Wow, what a fucking moron I was. Anyways, that was like 2 years ago anyways, so now I only wear clothes that actually might mean something to me or things that I think look stylish. Yeah, not things that other people think look stylish, things that I think look stylish. Wow, and if I wasn's so drunk right now I could propbably think a whole lot straighter. Anyways. My whole point to this thread is: be an individual, be yourself, don't let people tell you what to think, do what you want, don't be afraid of what other people might think, somebody out there will like you for who you are no matter what.

Yeah man, it does matter. imagine if I were to wear a shirt that said "gay pride" and I'm not a homosexual. What the hell am I doing? It's basically the same thing.

For some reason kids think being called a poser is the worst insult. If you dont like somone you call them a poser. Kinda like an excuse not to like them even though there is no good reason. Everyone but a select few are "posing", they just dont wanna admit it. People are all the same, like cows. Well, its butchering time for farmer D_C....

you would be stateing that you support "gay pride" I have a T-shirt that says "Pregnent Man" Am I pregnent? no. Do I care? no.
THat's not the point. The point is that you're representing something that you don't really believe in but you're representing it because you want other people to accept you. That's the point, don't misconstrue it.

I agree too. There was a time when I wanted to be accepted by everyone, but now I don't give a fuck. If they don't like me for who I am, I'm not interested in being around them. I just hate it when people try to manipulate others by saying "Oh, you have to do this to be cool"..

Yes, but what if "who you are" is a poser? If that were the case, then being a poser would just be being yourself. And if being a poser is being yourself, then your not really a poser at all! Oh man my head hurts now....

People are all the same, like cows.
Yeah. Its like "hey all you other cows, I got this new bell that looks like yours! You should except me now." and the other cows go "wtf are you doing? You used to stand by yourself over in the corner, you cant trick anyone. The farmer wants to milk you again... go away." Kinda like that.

What is "COOL" anyway. Nothing, a word we use to describe what we like and don't. That is all.

Could you have made any less sense?
I haven't really thought about what will happen once I get out of highschool, since its my first year.
But I know that once I do get out, theres a lot of people I'll probably never see. It's going to suck, everyone going to colleges and moving out of state and junk.
