Many people have already figured out how to hack their Animal Crossing save file to give themselves any item in the game, move things around in their town, get infinite bells, etc. If you go on GameFAQs, you'll often see topic of people saying things like, "Whoever gets post $500 in this thread gets 3 Metroids!" or some such thing, because they can create as many Metroids as they want.

I have the ability to hack my town, but as of now I have restrained myself. I have, however, gotten hacked items from a giveaway like the one above, but so far I haven't abused them (ie, donated fish to the museum which I caught because I have a hacked Golden Fishing Rod, selling rare hacked items for profit, or used hacked items to raise my HRA score.

What does everyone think about this? I'm trying to avoid hacking as much as possible, but it's just so tempting. I'm afraid that once I start hacking I'll have every item in the game before long and then it'll be boring. But when someone picks me to come to their town and take as many hacked items as I can carry in 5 minutes, it's hard to turn down (that's the contest I won).

I refuse to hack.

Though it is cool to pick up a couple 100000 bells from the hackers when you visit them

How in the world do you hack inside that game?

You have to copy the save file onto your PC and then use a program that someone made to edit the file.
