Translated from Jeux-France

Yuke' S announces the development of The Dog Happy Life on PSP, a simulation of dog very inspired by Nintendogs on Nintendo DS. The player on PSP will be able thus him to also deal with his dog (without the stylet and the microphone this-time) and to equip his animal with various accessories. It will be possible then to take photographs of its doggie from every angle. The exit of The Dog Happy Life is awaited for next 27 April in Japan.

nintendogs is not an original game either.....only the way you interace with the game
(thats why the DS is popular)

True Nintendogs isn't exactly ground breaking as it follows the Tomogatchi line of virtual life simulation but The Dog Happy Life is a rather blatant rip off.

show me another game where you can talk and touch your dog? Where you must manually train your dog to do tricks and behave. How about this, the game is innovative and creative

This seems to be going back and forth actually.

DS gets Brain Training....PSP gets Brain Training

PSP gets Translator....DS gets Translator

DS gets Nintendogs...PSP gets Sonydogs

They're just trying to get some of the action of the Nintendogs, seeing how it was such huge success... The graphics in this one aren't that impressive, they could have done better.

Twilight Prince

wow its better graphics and completely without the charm of nintendogs... and no stylus or mic.. thats... thats... like buying an xbox 360 just because of perfect dark zero. wait a minute! people do that too

Didn't Sony just acquire Yuke's, It makes sense that Sony sees Nintendo get huge sails of their simulator and then has to knock it off so they get in on the profit.

However I'd like to remind everyone this isn't that odd, Sony often knocks Nintendo products off and no one should be the least bit surprised.

From the sound of that paragraph the major selling point of this game will be the ability to put clothes on your dog. WTF.

Sony would have more success if they replaced the dog theme with hot chicks. It'd be like one of those KISS Doll games but in 3D and you can take snap shots you can load onto your PC so you can fap away...

Go RE-read my statement, the game is most definately NOT groundbreaking.
(its a fucking virtual pet) the only thing that is unique about it is:
the way you interface with the game

do you still want to argue this? I mean seriously.......the DS defiantely lets you play games in new and unique ways(innovative), but that doesn't mean the game itself is groundbreaking.
Virtual Pets have been aroudn for damn near a decade! Go do some research!

My sister has Nintendogs, and honestly, I dont see much graphic difference in Nintendogs or That knockoff. Good job Nintendo. This is the PRECISE reason the industry hasnt heard anything from Revolution...Nintendogs has been out for a year, and already there are machs of it...Shitty ones i might add...

The only thing that makes Nintendogs special (and fun) is the method of control. With the PSP, all you have left is a boring, repetative Tamagotchi clone.

No I will toatlly agee that becasue of the innovative and creative DS hardware you can experience an old idea in new and interesting ways. But the basis of the game itself is a completely unoriginal idea.

btw - I never took it out! :lick:

I doubt I will buy the PSP version, just because I am not a fan of such things.
If I were I would have already dropped a few grand on an AIBO before they discontinued it....

The only comment I have is that they took a game that didn't appeal to me in the first place and made it more boring.

Well this is just sad from Sony's part... ahh its quite sad really. If this trend of Sony "recreating" Nintendo's popular ideas continues, we may just see more innovative Nintendo titles just basically being ripped off!!

Fats

It's not Sony developing the game for the PSP though is it? As far as I was aware Sony allow developers to create whatever they please on the system, within reason.

this TITLE is not Sony's and it is not Nintendo's...BOTH of them recreated something that has been around for almost a decade. It is not innovative either. They are merely reserving old ideas while adding the latest features in gaming experience. I am pretty sure Sony is not trying to "HALO" nintedogs with this title(that woudl never happen). They might be trying to get a little profit off its popularity, but that would also seem somewhat ignorant, as they have a different interfaces(the two games would only be similar in idea not in gameplay.)

This is just Sony offering something that is popular(not only becasue of f-ing innovative ninty you fanboys) on THEIR format! It's not Sony developing the game for the PSP though is it? As far as I was aware Sony allow developers to create whatever they please on the system, within reason....and that too

what are you talking about??? i'm not a nintendo fanboy but seriously this is no less a complete ripoff that giana sisters were to super mario. a tamagothci game about dogs would never have reached the psp if it wasnt for nintendogs. And if nindogs hadnt been successful this game would never been launched either.. its just about cashing in on the hype. But if it is as good as nintendogs then congrats to all the psp owners... it's fun stuff.

no problem. Yes the basis of the game is unoriginal, but the way you interact with it wasn't.

@Twilight Prince
you are still not seeing the point, Sony did NOT rip off Nintendo.
Nintedo and Sony BOTH ripped off Tamagotchi

btw - did I specifically call you out earlier?

I merely stated anyone who thinks this is Nintendo's Proprietary Innovative Idea and that Sony is just ripping them off(again).....is either really ignorant or a fanboy. Neither company can claim creative ownership over such a basic game(virtual pets) However, they can claim theirs is funner(or more enjoyable) because of the unique way you can play the game(the hardware interface). Thats exaclty why the DS version is SO popular(you can play it in a way that you never really could before).

So what if Sony is doing it becasue of its hype or sucess......THATS EXACLTY WHY NINTENDO DID IT FOOLS!
you guys are so stubborn sometimes its irritating.

Viper

Dude, they (developer/publisher) are ripping off Nintendogs. It's not like an FPS where there are 500 different rehashes of the same premise and gameplay. Had N-dogs not come out, would have this? We may never know but it's way to obvious it influenced it. It doesn't take a fanboy to admit this.

Granted, SONY THEMSELVES ARE NOT COPYING NINTENDO.

We even?

nintendogs = boring after a day
sonydogs = boring after 5 minutes
at least in my opinion.

in all seriousness, i dont think it will be nearly as successful. i dont see any other better way doing it without the touchscreen and mic.

Coded-Dude
02-09-2006, 01:46 AM
yes we are on the same page Viper; I am in 100% agreement with you that this dev team is attempting to use the sucess of Nintendogs to gain popularity with their own game. Will Sony profit from this? Only if it sells(they get money from UMD publlication) Otherwise the only real interest Sony has in said game is dev licenses. Unless someone here can directly tie Sony to the decision of creating such a game for the PSP.

I was only pointing out to everybody in here that stated "Sony is directly ripping off Ninty"
(that is just an absurd statement and many people in this thread have said it)

Phoenix

The only thing I hate almost as much as this ripoff and other similar ones (like the Splitfish fiasco) is people blaming them on Sony. Sony had nothing to do with these things. There are many other injustices that we can blame on Sony, but please! Make sure it's actually Sony who's doing it first!

In all honesty, you can say the basis of almost ANY game anymore is a rip-off. You can't run off that.

Nintendogs is ORIGINAL in it's own way. Put aside the idea of the tamagotchi and so forth and what not (the basis)... the majority of the game does have quite a bit of originality. Even if it is just the way you interact and what not, this still holds true.

Certainly true that VirtualDog.com and some other things have been LIKE it...but there is a point where a game does enough to where it IS original in it's own terms. I feel with the stylus, microphone, and whatnot... the game HAS reached that level.

Thats my opinion.

And I personally respect everyones oppinions here...but I personally think that Nintendogs is entertaining to a point. Especially when you can't have a dog. Those things are so effing cute it makes me sick.

And...what is Translator?
