The file vfwwdm32.dll is incorrectly installed in the Windows folder and should be deleted.
Gettting this error in the dxdiag window.
Tried to just replace it by installing directx 9 (it was on 8.1 before) but that hasnt helped.

Don't know what it does? Anyone know? I get the feeling its important.

Was trying to transfere files to a mobile phone. The manual states it needs windows 2000 or XP but this is a windows 98 computer.
The device manager recognises it but puts it as the VComm port rather than Comm 1 or Comm 2 etc.
I thought that it might have something to do with it.

Also the computer runs uber slow and doesnt take kindly to the internet. ITs only got 64MB of ram. Other than running less programs at once has anyone got any ideas on how we can make it run faster.

Its a pentium 2 by Tiny. IT's really old. I would install windows 2000 but we have no driver disc and I'm afraid that if I install windows 2000 we won't be able to install sound or usb devices or even chipset drivers. I considered doing an upgrade but it would still be subject to speed problems. I'd only change the OS to solve the speed problems - and we haven't got the windows 98 disc either and mines has gone missing

You can get a new copy of the file HERE (http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?vfwwdm32).

You will most likely have to boot into safe mode to overwrite the older file.

To register the new DLL file, you will need to run regsvr32 <path>\vfwwdm32.dll

Thanks man - unfortunatly the computer ran out of memory before it could download. So I had to restart it - which took agessss
Then I had to leave before I had the chance to register it

Ran out of memory? What were you doing?

It was a really old Pentium 2 that used to belong to my uncle who gave it to his son and then gave it to another of my cousins.
It has 64MB of memory and will generally only do 1 thing at a time. My uncle's son loaded it up with so many programs running on start up and I wasn't sure which to kill. I had problems loading the psinext pages.
I got another 64MB stick in an old computer - I'm thinkin I might put it in for him.
