Well, it's not very surprising.

=-o - just kidding, I'm not surprised either.......
so we've decided to separate business and consumer availability.
So we(the business) might be getting our version sooner than you(the consumer).....tehehehehe
Maybe in the past we would have just gone ahead(release an insecure OS) but now we're not going to do that.
OMFGROFLMAO!.....:wtf:

They should do what OS X does and be just Vista not Vista Home/Business/Basic/Starter/Pro/14m3/omg I can't think of 7 bs names.

Might as well push it to 08. And I actually agree with Moses on this one. MS should make one version with all the bells and whistles and tweak it down so its secure, runs fast, has multimedia software + codecs, etc.

They have to have 2 at least though. One with and one without WMP.

I just learned about the Windows Upgrade Anytime Wizard.
So I guess how they have it setup for the pay to upgrade whenever will lead to INSANE piracy.

We were all suspecting a push back on the release date, so no shocker there. At least we still get to play with the corporate versions before retail releases.
I have never been a fan of the multi-versions either, but if they only offered one flavor than had all features, people would complain about how they want to buy a cheaper version that does not have all the features that they will not use or miss. So now we get to complain about too many versions instead....*sigh*

Heads Roll As Microsoft Misses Vista Target (http://www.informationweek.com/windows/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=183702744)
This time around, Microsoft held someone publicly accountable.
After another delay in the release of its Windows Vista operating system, Microsoft last week put a new executive in charge of future Windows projects and replaced several other managers. The changes are designed to better align Microsoft's desktop and Internet software teams and get products to market faster.
That's imperative after Microsoft co-president Jim Allchin said last week that the already much-delayed Vista system won't be generally available until January, months later than promised. It means Vista will ship too late for the important holiday sales season, a deadline few in the industry expected Microsoft to miss. Versions of Vista for Microsoft's largest business customers will ship in November. The stakes are high: Goldman Sachs estimates Vista will add $1 billion to $1.5 billion in revenue to Microsoft's top line in the six quarters after its release.
Two days after the bombshell, Microsoft put Steven Sinofsky, a senior VP from its Office division, in charge of developing future versions of Windows. He replaces senior VP Brian Valentine, who's been assigned to get Vista out the door without any public statement about his next project. Microsoft also said Mike Nash will leave his job as head of its security technology unit for an unspecified role.

So now OS 10.5 will snag more of the spotlight then Vista.

this is very good news, they must have very incompedent programmers, how hard is it to change 3 lines of code from xp, steal things from osx and linux and sell it as a new pile of poo?
