12-16 launch titles? Now to speculate which ones they will be :)

I'd like some new info from Koei projects now when we talk about Sony Canada, kinda sure Fatal Inertia will be one of the launch titles. Would have been cool to hear from GDC how that project has proceeded.

Hmm...the movie download is a new one on me, as is the number of launch titles. Graphics and AI out-do high-end Gaming PC? They damn well better! It's also a for-sure thing that the online service will change it's name, right now they're just going by it's internal name that's there just for name's sake.

Since when was there a Sony Canada though...?

@LiquidEagle

Come on man, we got everything up here! We got ATI headquarters 5 min away from my house, weed or shisha in every kid's hands, and Canadian bacon on pizza! What more could you possibly need!?!?

P.S.
There is maybe one more thing you would need actually... the Sony building about 20 min away from my house lol! Where I got my PS2 fixed up and a free controller!

Huh, I'd never heard of Sony Canada either! I just figured it was a subset of Sony US. Anyway good to know, I'll give it a listen later. This best be real. :smoke:

Also MrDarko welcome to the forum - good to see ya here.

I would expect music and tv downloads for the PSP, but for decent quality movies I am suprised they would abondon the UMD. Also, I hope Sony addresses the one MAJOR issue with the PSP, the insane loading times. For me, that kills the whole idea of a quick portable gaming device.

first of all, PSP's screen isn't even DVD resolution (720x480). so, if you can crunch a movie in divx at near dvd quality onto a 700 mb cd, i'm sure PSP's 480x272 pixels won't be too hard to reduce down to a couple hundred megs to put on a memory stick.

I crunched down Boondock Saints awhile ago with decent quality sound and 480x272 resolution, and it was 230 MB If that gives you guys any idea. I'm guessing movies will be a little bit heftier though if the sound is really going to take advantage of what the PSP can do.

Well I have no doubt that Sony has some kind of building there, but I've honestly never heard of a Sony Canada, as in a publisher/developer, or any kind of branch that would make this kind of announcement. I'll check out the audio though ;)

Haha.. you guys are funny, of course there is a Sony of Canada, I used to work at Futureshop and we delt direct with them all the time.

They are as real as Sony of America & Sony of Japan. And the podcast comes from Space channel, they are Canada's equivlent to the USA sci-fi channel.

I guess the general notion is North American branch would just include both Canada and U.S.

That's what www.playstation.com must be doing, since there's only a North America and no different sites for US & Canada. That in itself is more interesting than the information Sony Canada announced, in a way! :-p

everybody seems to be a bit sedated in response to this. he suggested improvements to the PS3, new surprises which may have something to do with price and more surprises for PSP and PS2 (and i don't think this is just aaa titles) yeeeeee haaaaa. come on wake up.... yeeeeeee f*****g haaaaaaaa. i feel better for that :)

Sony needs to get that dude(Sony Canada) from the 30th podcast of VGC and get him to talk more at conventions and Sony events. I don't know if others sensed it but he has a very cool hardcore gamer thing going on about him while maintaining the higher-up Sony employee status. Very respectable and cautious at the same time. Nice, I enjoyed hearing his interview. Thanks for the link. Bookmarked!
