Just downright amazing to me...Few words can describe how it looks.
Motorstorm:

I guess it is a step down...still nice though, maybe its just this shot. You decide...keep it friendly! :lol

Awesome find. Where'd you find them? Any hints of more coming?
Ratchet & Clank truly looks amazing, and i don't think MotorStorm is much of a step down, i mean they stripped the game down to show a demo of mud slinging, so of course the scenery isn't going to look the best, but i think the car model looks better than the other cars in the E3 trailer (excluding the rally car), maybe i'm just making excuses  , i guess all will be revealed in around 6 weeks :smoke:

First Post :)
Good find... But the pics still look dark.
Even so, they still look good...I personally think the Motorstorm is a step down but picture quality and the unknown development stage could have something to do with it.
It could also possibly be that its focus was showing off the track and mud effects

You can see polygon edges in some spots and the texture blocks being used in the first pic (on the floor). I personally believe those are realtime.

Showing CG to the audience of the GDC would be just about the silliest thing Insomniac or any other developer would want to do. ;) The entire point of showing any footage at this thing is to highlight specific tech in progress.

Yeah, by looking at the first picture and looking closely at the others you can tell this has to be real time, no matter how impressive it seems.
People, remember this is an early build of a first generation title on non final hardware. PS3 is so promising...
By the way, the media reported that at the end of Motorstorm demonstration, there was a message: "See you at E3" written in the mud. We can see partial words on both this new picture and the previous one from another thread. In this latest one it seems to say "ground".

very nice I've seen games like obliv and tech demos like unreal and 3dMark 06 yeah this is way possible, Its not the polys that impress me but (yeah there are a quite a few there) it's the post effects like the shine off the cars which is dam cool that's the stuff that is CG quality. But are we quick to forget 1080P? thats the thing sony has been shouting about, well kenny anyway.
Motorstorm looks like ass though

LOL you read my post wrong...it wasn't meant as (final) source...just source for others to look at..since there are none in your post.

Wow... RC is look really good, same with Motorstorm. Cartier, have you played RC3? It's one of the best looking games on PS2, and I believe that Insomniac can pull this off! Heck, it might get even better before it's done.

If the Motorstorm picture is a screen dump, why did they choose such a bad, dark, boring picture? Why do all pictures have different sizes, makes you wonder?

The Motorstorm pic is to show off the physics of the mud and the particles and intereactions and stuff. So that's why it's not as good looking. The game should look better.

Then the picture is a particulary bad choice, because you can hardly see that the tracks have depths and you see no mud flying. The original source of that picture would be interesting to know.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Motorstorm picture is a photo someone scaled in Photoshop.

You're right. It's weird that they didn't choose a better pic.

It is rather obvious that the motor storm pic is a photo of a screen displaying the image rather than a screen cap. The lack of color and overall dark look give that away. I don't think it's looking too bad, as it is a work in progress at the moment.

These ARE upscaled photos from the presscon! (or maybe just photos)
These are no official screens from Sony at all.
So don't judge from these shots to the power of the PS3.

That may be true but it's the best thing we have from GDC ATM... we need to be thankful.
This is an awesome find, thanks for posting it man. I just wish we could actually get some real trailers and Sony wasn't so damn secretive.
But honestly.... the graphical quality of those ratchet pics is quiet amazing and when I keep looking at them it really is tough to believe it isn't CG. With these new photos though, you can clearly see the polygon edges you guys have been talking about.

If those R&C are real-time.. could you imagine how Kingdom Hearts 3 will looks like?? lets hope its close to CG of Kingdom Hearts 1!

I can't get over how gorgeous Ratchet and Clank looks. Theres no doubt in my mind that its real-time and is CG quality IMO minus the visible polygons and textures seams. It looks like we'll playin a movie in real-time lol.
Motor storm looks good (not in that screen but the others). We need to see another hi-res screen and the actual gameplay because thats not a good screen. Than I can make a verdict on how different it is than the trailer.

remember how the in game GFX of GT3 where better than the CG of GT1+2. so good that buy GT4 cam along they dont even bother with CG anymore.
alot of the stuff i have been seeing in real time looks better than the CG in FFX and KH:banana:
that is the reason why cameras were off limits in the show. the whole point of the show is not to impress the consumers. these are all tech demos to impress the actual devs and publishers. you can judge how everything looks and compare at E3 only 6 weeks from now. not this 'developers' conference.

You'd probably need to take a good look to FFX again, because I really don't think we'll see something close enough before PS4.

They didn't show anything at GDC. Just bits of "tech" stuff. E3 is when the hammer get thrown down. Until then I'm not worried about anything. I will say 360 owners do have a great game in Oblivion. I have the PC version. IMO it's the best RPG I haver ever played hands down.

I don't want to derail the thread - being a mod and all - but Oblivion truly is a great game. Luckily, there it is on PC (like I imagine a lot of 360 games will be this gen). But truly, fantastic visuals *and* gameplay, which is rare.
I will also say that it really makes you a believer in what physics will bring to the table this gen. Oblivion is only the tip of the iceburg as far as what Cell would be capable of, and what GDC demos have shown, but watching a slain opponent slide down a hill or an enemy be thrown back by a heavy object... this 'physics' hype is for real.
Ratchet and Clank's looking good by the way.

This really raises my eye brows especially when you consider these are just demos made months ago. And to me thats a good thing. You never know...the actual games might look even better (or worse but I doubt that would happen).

the motorstorm pics from the other day looked a little bit better. those are supposedly a build from december no less(didnt the devs kits in dec run on 10% bandwidth from what the final kit will have? are devs still using that lowly bw total as of today?). 9 months to work(from dec) on it/and final devs kits still yet to come should give it a good image boost by nov.
im curious why they did not show the progress they made from jan,feb and early march on motorstorm and decided to show the dec build. maybe there waiting for e3 to show the most current work. still looks pretty decent.

outch. someone needs a reality check. don't get to carried away with excitement. ;)

again, that is because no one is aiming to impress anyone else with the actual game. no body is selling any games there. they are only focused on the technology behind it, the engines, the new methods, etc. have you seen the slides from different presentations? they some are focusing on new graphical apps, and the pics they had in the slides are laughable. but they prove the point of what actually happens.
keep in mind this is not a consumer show, but a technology show for developers themselves.

WAAHH!!! They've stolen our pics!!! They give us the credit though:
It should be noted that high res does not mean sharp, bright and in focus, cus these screens while of much higher quality than the batch we presented to you yesterday, still leave a lot to be desired.
One of these screens is not like the other, see if you can guess which! (Hint: the others are from Ratchet and Clank PS3, and the last one's from Motorstorm, which doesn't look so hot) Sony could probably save themselves some bad PR if the only released some nice high res, direct screen grabs of the games shown at GDC, guess we'll have to wait some for those.
