Just a bit of something thats ive been wondering lately. For those of you old enough to remember when SNES and Genesis were in their hayday. What made Sonic and Jurrasic Park so addicting that you would play them till you passed out , just to repeat it again becase you couldnt save(hah). The same could be said for those endless nights of Crash Bandicoot and Jet Moto on the PS1.

Whats happened in the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox generation thats made gaming far more boring than it used to be? With the exception of Blizzard games I cant honestly say ive had a whole lot of "fun" playing games lately. Im probaly more excited about getting a cheap Blu-Ray player with the PS3 than for any game about to come out(on any system).

We are doing pretty much the same thing we've been doing for years in games, racing around a track, jumping/shooting, solving puzzles. For a while there that was great, now unless its some "revolutionary" new controller or graphics that could dropkick you no one seems to be interested. Why does so much 'extra' stuff need to be included nowdays - when for so long it didnt matter.

Is it that games are simply not as interesting, or have we just come to expect to much?

I think that developers are trying to make more "impressive" games than "enjoyable".
Like, they're always making a more realistic experience.
But we already have the most realistic experience.
It's life.
But we want something more.
If we didn't, we wouldn't be reaching for artificial entertainment in the form of video games.
...Oh no, I'm losing my point.
Umm...
They'd rather make impressive over enjoyable.
That's all for now.
