This is indeed a sad day in video game history. Sega has just annouced that they are officially pulling the plug on the beloved franchise Sonic The Hedgehog. "We have come to a decision that it would be best to end the Sonic legacy with the last entry into the video game industry Sonic 15th, which will be released for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 as well as Nintendo's Codename Revolution" says Yuji Naka the creator of Sonic. Naka says that this Next Gen Sonic will tie up all the loose ends in the Sonic Universe and the game will feature every character ever featured inside a game. Naka also promised that this will be the best entry for Sonic ever. "Since this will be Sonic's last game, we promise that he will go out with a bang. It will be everything fans expect it to be". No further details on story or anything was given, but we can now finally conclude that this next gen Sonic will be for the Revolution.
Naka said that further details of putting an end to Sonic games will come soon.

link doesn't work....
it goes to a nonworking ign page.
Also..... I havn't seen this on any other source... ...I dont know if I believe you...
unless you can redirect me
also.... if htis were to be real.... that quote isn't the most professional sounding with multiple grammatical errors.
to me, there was only two Sonic games: the Genesis one and the DC one. the rest were re-runs. better take a breather and either come back with something worth while, or just save us the disappointments.

It better not be true, that's all i have to say.
If it is (which i doubt...), then Sega is truly dead and I hope they burn in hell for the horrible decision.

"http://www.ign.com/articles/feat6384784" will simply not cut it!
Hiss.
But it matters not, I gave up on Sonic being any fun after Sonic Adventure. After that... uh, well. You know the rest.
And now we move this over to General Gaming, where it should be. Buttmonk.
of course this isn't true. Sonic is one of Segas biggest names. but I am not happy about the recent Sonic games. in fact, Sega as a whole is really letting me down. beside very few current games, the rest is better off dead.
the potential is there. they just need right management.

That's kind of were I was hoping to go with this lol. I thought the rest of you would play along.
It's kinda obvious Sega would never get rid of Sonic haha. Atleast I sparked some conversation, even if it were fake :look:
i wish they actually would to be honest, the only desent ones where the ones for the Sega consoles themselves
and that Shadow The Hedgehog game was just awful

Shame on you for taking Sega at their word. :) If this new Sonic title sells well, I *guarantee* Sega keeps a-milkin' the cow.
Sega will keep milking the cow, the problem is the cow is drying up more and more with every squeeze.

There hasn't been a good sonic game since the Genisis, but this would suck any way, if it were true.

I enjoyed the Genesis Sonic games and Sonic Adventure 2, but that's been about it. I'm hoping that the upcoming, next-gen title will live up to what a Sonic game should be and not suck for a change.

They're not done ruining Sonic's name yet. Of course they're going to make more terrible games.

I haven't played any Sonic games since I had my Sega Mega Drive (Sega "Genesis" for the Yanks.) but I loved them then, I might just pick up this Sonic game as it's coming out for the 360.

Sega should sell Sonic to Nintendo. I think that would be a smart move. Hell Sammy should sell Sega to Nintendo.
Sonic is not really the Mascot for Sega anymore. Hell sega has no Mascot at all.
:mario: :luigi:
dont worry...when they see the sales PS3 will rack in for Sonic...they'll continue making the games

I do agree with that, Nintendo should buy Sega.

Are you fucking my dick right now?
God damnit, I was all excited that there were going to stop milking that dead franchise. Sonic was good on the Genesis, not on the Dreamcast. Let it end, Sega.
Actually, Sonic on the Dreamcast was quite good, not amazing, but quite good. I also think that Sega should sell Sonic over to Nintendo, at least the games would be good!

You know what else I found out? Nintendo is going to stop making Mario games.
/sarcasm
That first Sonic game for the Dreamcast was the last good sonic game. I hope for the next gen release Sonic will go back to its roots instead of those bullshit new characters they added in the last couple games.

I like most Sonic games. SA2 wasn't all that great, and God knows Shadow wasn't good... but I don't want to see the games die. Just go back to the basics with the game, and stop adding so many stupid characters...Big the Cat....

At the time, Sonic Adventure was a great game, but it didnt stand the test of time like Mario 64 did...

It pains me to say this, but I think it really is time. I love Sonic too, but honestly, he hasn't had any great games in a long time. Even the handheld sidescrolling versions just don't compare anymore. If they can't jump start the series again, then they might as well just put it to rest.
you know what Sega needs to do with Sonic? they need to do with it what Ninty is doing to mario; squeeze the thing in every imaginable game...then squeeze some more!
all Sonic games are main games in the series. there are no spin offs. Shadow, the 3D one on DC and all Sonic games are really just Sonic. where is Sonic Super Smash? Sonic Kart? Sonic Soccer? etc? Hell, Ninty is making a mario paint program! milking doesn't go further than that.
they can make Sonic main games again when there is something refreshing or new to grap people. Ninty only made 1 true mario game on both N64 and Cube. heck, Pac-man is appearing more than Sonic.
