....Featuring MGS4!
....Cartoon-like games might get away with a technically simple score, but as graphics get more complex and lifelike, the sounds within those games have to keep up too. God of War's grandiose soundtrack wouldn't have sounded nearly as good if the developers only had the audio range of the NES to work with. We checked in with Konami's sound director for the highly anticipated PS3 game Metal Gear Solid 4 for more details on what we can expect from next-gen audio....

Good find, thanks for the link. Kinda informative, but I also expected sound to get much better. If it involves MGS though, I'm there :-D

Gamespot? Wrong? NEVER!

I think they copied the results from the PS2 column and just forgot to edit it, that's why it says 44.1/48 kHz. 192 kHz audio is okay, I guess :-p. 128 and higher I really can't tell the difference when it comes to mp3's I download, and especially if it's coming through my semi-old TV I don't expect it to make a difference.

Last year's Tokyo Game Show trailer emphasized the theme "No place to hide!" and Tojima, as sound director, will do all he can to envelop the player in the world of Metal Gear Solid. "In a battlefield with no place to hide, you will hear impending dangers all around you, in all 360 degrees."
I just found it pretty funny that 360 cant even produce 360 sounds(256 I think?) lol.

With Blu-ray movies, yes...

We do not know yet if Dolby TruHD quality sound can be done in game on CELL...

I suspect that somebody will try to do it eventually, but not at first...

The Xbox treated us to Dolby Digital surround sound rendered in-game. On the fly surround-sound encoding brought gaming one step closer to replicating the hallowed movie standard.

how come ps2 never really used (DD)(DTS) with vice city it used DTS and the difference was amazing i had to play it again just because it sounded so good once i got the amplifer.

edit: wheres the QUOTE thing
