Sega has announced World Snooker Championship 2007 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The game will also be available for PlayStation 2, and another game, Snooker Challenge 2007, will be released on PSP. World Snooker Championship 2007 boasts 104 of the World’s best snooker players, with ten official tournaments all realistically modelled for the 2007 season.

“Last year’s World Snooker Championship was a massive hit for SEGA,” commented Matt Woodley, Creative Director of SEGA. “We are delighted to be coming back for a new season, with new additions to the game and another opportunity to prove yet again that Blade Interactive really are masters of cuesports.”

World Snooker Championship 2007 will be available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PS2 in Autumn 2006, with World Snooker Challenge 2007 also released in Autumn. Link: Boomtown (http://www.boomtown.net/en_uk/articles/art.view.php?id=11191)

No great news coming from SEGA yet for PS3. I guess they'll save Fifth Phantom Saga and next gen Sonic to be revealed in the last place.

Launch period for PS3 and Revolution looks to be the nesting grounds for niche sports titles. I am not good at a pool game but I know some people who're gonna dig these titles everyday of their lives.

Sweet,I like pool too nice to see Sega making games that I want, but from the looks of it, its a budget title at best, only online may save its glory.

Not much of a Snooker fan, I do hope they include some 9ball modes in there. :)
Good news though.

Snooker? Huh?

Also, that audience in those screens is 100% robots -- they don't look like people watching pool at all

Hmm looks ok. Btw, Dunno if anyone here has seen the XBL trailer for Rockstar table tennis but it's looking pretty sweet (considering it is, after all, ping pong).

Anyway this one should be fun online for sure. Much better than pool on yahoo...which is already pretty good despite 2D graphics.

I much prefer Snooker over Pool, but those screens don't look very appealing. I would like to see a next-gen Jimmy White game.

I would love to see a high production trick pool game... maybe EA could whip up Pool Street?

Wow guys, don't push PS3 too hard on the graphics!
And talk about next-gen gameplay! We don't have to upgrade our PS3 to play this do we!?

/sarcasm. (as it needed pointing out..../sarcasm)

Seriously, why did they even bother showing this game? It is fitting to be on the PSP and the gameplay looks like the same as the version I've played...which was like 2002 or something.

Ah well, everyone's tongues must be filled with the taste they like.
