View Full Version : Some pictures from my weekend
Brentwood Regatta, the most prestigious crew regatta of the year, takes place at the end of April in Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.
Keep in mind rowing pictures are... never exactly flattering, especially considering you have no idea that a picture is being taken. But I suppose it at least defends some of my masculinity in comparison to :zeep:. Also, I was pretty sunburned.

Regionals is in three weeks, and if we do well, we'll be going to Nationals. Almost the only teams that beat us were Canadian teams, who don't participate in US Regionals and Nationals, so we should have a pretty good shot.

That's great to hear! I've got three State Championships under my belt, but I never even got a shot to try out for nationals. I hope you do great!

Whats with all the hippies?
Yeah, there are a few people on the team who have long hair and refuse to cut it. Most of them ended up in that boat.
That looks like a long ass course. Did your shoulders get sore? :pointer: :zeep:http://forums.e-mpire.com/images/icons/icon14.gif

1500 meters. that's roughly 4:30-6:00 depending on the boat. Shoulders don't really get sore, but legs and arms do.
and the guy behind me is James. He's pretty cool. He looks fat and stupid, but the guy consistently gets like >95th percentile on standardized tests (but NEVER does any homework) and rows like a beast.

Is that Medal a bronze one? (third place)
I like how they put the only guy that looks like an ass, on the back of the boat. It's very fitting.

Vancouver is such a nice place
Congrats there Zeep. :-) Third place is pretty darn good in that regatta. How many teams were entered?
It was a good weekend for the regatta, as since then the wind has really picked up (yeah, I live near there).
Good luck to you and your team for the regionals and nationals.

No, there were six others, I believe.

the event is the high school 8. we were 9 rowers from Mt Baker who happen to all go to the same school, so we were there representing Garfield High School. I don't know about all the other teams, but Brentwood, Shawnigan, Lakeside, and Vancouver ARE school teams, meaning the boats we were racing against were simply their top boat. I know this is true of at least lakeside. We, on the other hand, were in a lineup we had never raced in before, made up of rowers from the best and worst of our team, who all happened to go to the same school.
row row row your boat, gently off a cliff
