That's how long it takes for fucking anything to get to Roma cinemas. You ever wanted to know what it's like to travel back in time, you're welcome to stay here for a while.

Now before this thread turns into... well... every other gay-related thread... and before my friends post their side of the story, I have to say something about the movie. I expected three things:

1. A happy ending.
2. No actual sex, just innuendo.
3. My friends and I to be mature and not make gay jokes throughout.

None of these things happened. Well, for the most part. About the first sex scene, we were all way too shell-shocked to make immature jokes anymore. Just what do you say to actual butt sex? "ghey butt secks lol" just doesn't cut it.

Around the half way point, we grew up a little and were able to appreciate it for what it is. Very powerful movie. I haven't seen emotive acting that great in a long time. The entire cast were suberb. The ending was moving... I'm glad it was dark in the theatre, for I don't like my friends seeing my cry.

It conveys the homosexual experience far better than I'd anticipated. I actually feel bad for being just like everyone else and passing it off as "that gay cowboy movie" when it's so much more.

:2cents:

When it comes out on DVD, I'm buying it and watching it again without the temptation to ruin it with poor humour. We all know that humour is what you resort to when you can't face what's happening in front of you, and I feel that this was the case for all five of us.

It was like watching a movie with two different personas.

One side of me picked it apart for humour material.

The other side found it to be an awesome movie. I need to watch it again at home, maybe with Shane too. Just to appreciate it fully.

I might rent this film on DVD sometime. Also, what does innuendo mean?

Oh crap, I forgot it should have gone in Entertainment. Sorry.

Innuendo: a phrase or remark which can have a double meaning, one of which is usually uncomplimentary and possibly sexually suggestive. Innuendo compares with pun and double entendre.

I read the short story.

It was a shitty short story.

Everybody I know who saw this movie said it was awful. No, I'm not trying to be a gay basher here, I'm just relaying what I was told. When that many people tell me a movie's that bad, I won't bother wasting my time.

This place has yet to be torn apart?

Don't worry, i'll behave.

I haven't seen it, but from the previews it sort of seems like a Lifetime movie but with guys where Lifetime would have placed women. I'm not into the whole "chick flick" thing, even if it's about guys. Sure, I can imagine a film like Brokeback Mountain having good acting and writing and probably telling a moving story, but it just isn't my thing. I've always leaned to the more action-oriented films.

There's no need to defend yourself. You're entitled to your opinion, and it's even better that you've justified the real reason why you won't see the movie.

Paying to see a movie with guys having sex? Knowing ahead of time that its going to have scenes like that? wtf.
