I booked it today, being nr 7 on the Deluxe 60 Gig version.
Strange thing is that in that store 13 had booked the 499 while only seven
had booked the real deal.
Also they said it was coming 19th November, so in the end what was a regular visit in town turned in too me booking the damn thing.
It was invetiable and i couldnt resist it, even if i tried. I think it took 2-3 seconds from the moment i saw the sign where it stood "PS3 for preordering"
untill i shouted at the desk, "I want a PS3! The EXPENSIVE one".. :smoke:

I'll have to ask at the same place where I bought my PSP. I might go there tomorrow to see if they are taking preorders already.
I'm of course going for the 600 € one.
I'll have to wait for the weekend to see if there is any place up here in Canada that is doing pre-orders right now. Toys-R-Us didn't have the display up for it when I was last in there last weekend.

Got mine pre ordered at EB in Auckland for about 3 months, going for the Premium model of course.
I was going to buy 2 PS3s, one Kiwi one yankie to get US games and Blu Ray movies sooner, as we often have to wait for this stuff and pay more and I have a collection of US PS2 games. But... now I'm thinking... Maybe I should wait for the first price cut and the silver model, and also see if this region free thing for games pans out.
If I got get all my games from the US and save a bundle and play them all on a Kiwi PS3 that would be excellent.

Actually I better go do that tonight I put a deposit down at Gamestop after last E3 for 360 and PS3 which worked for the 360, but need to confirm it's still there for PS3 and make sure I get the premium pack. I got the premium pack for the 360 but I think I was just lucky, as I never specified which SKU I wanted.
EDIT: Ok, went back, my pre-order is still valid, but apparently I'm one of like 3 people that got a pre-order before gamestop put the kabosh on taking pre-orders (at least at this store). They are not accepting pre-orders anymore and it's first come first serve (evidently the dude that let me put down the deposit f'd up. I'm also not guaranteed a box, I'm just sort bumped into the head of the line. I was also able to specify that I did not want the tard pack, but again there is no guarantee. Oh and in case anyone thought the price is some sort of deterrent I was in the store all of 10 minutes and no fewer than 5 people asked about it. Anecdotal, but plenty of demand out there. First 6 million will fly off the shelves.

I preordered mine at GAME, think they are better than EBGames, or rather i dont like EB at all, the staff and so.
One good thing is i actually will save 100Euro every month so its get rather cheap in that sense. :thumbr:

Yeah i was suprised, but thinking they are planning to have about 4 million Units before holliday ends i think its safe we get one.
Wonder how they plan up, EQUAL or NA/EU/JP(strategic best IMO).
6 million by mars/April.

I've been calling around here in northern VA, and most people at EB and Gamestops were saying things like "You're like the 100th person who called asking that, try back in a few weeks." Of course they would say that, they don't want to be doing their jobs (hehehehehe), but I got one guy at an EB who said to keep calling back to check because they should start by the end of this week. So we shall see...........
btw...@ Overclock: I want the EXPENSIVE ONE for me TOOOO!!

I have a sense were up for a little suprise reg PS3 imo. TGS is when its final. :stirpot:
For the E3, well the games speak for themselves and im glad as hell!
For all the titles ive seen so far witch is the most by now everything looks as good as i had expected.
Lair well, if its not a launch title i dont care. Man did you see that trailer for it and it "just" the kind of game im looking for from what it seems, simply amazing.
Btw the disposal cost was 300SEK witch at current "value" is about ~30Euro or +40US$.

Overlclocked, please let's not start PS3 TGS rumors regarding pricing or specs, I think all the speculation led to the E3 disappointment...
Let's just wait till November and enjoy a new PS after 6 long years...
Also, my EB is not taking preorders I am on a calling list and officially on standby. Plus, I plan to by the premium pack, I'm surprised people are actually preordering the core version... Peace

Ayhh a little suprise dont hurt anyone i think, most of the dissapointement is IMO coming from hyping up the machine itself and/or wanting all in a package for 299/399US.
With suprise i should probably say that when *even* Incognito got a week or so to implement(and not knowing anything) the controller stuff and from my understanding many if not most companys didnt have a clue about that i atleast would´t be suprised if they changed price or some specification at all.

To answer your question, no I havent yet, but I will be soon, probably this weekend or next week. I'm trying to find out when Wii is launched, because I havent made up my mind which console I want first. If I get Wii, I can play the new Zelda, and several others at launch which would be well worth it, If I get PS3 at launch, I hope there is a game that will take up as much of my Christmas holiday time as a game like Zelda.

Has anyone pre-ordered in the UK? Any advice on where I can pre-order from? I've only checked the Game website (where I got my 360 from) and nada. As soon as I can pre-order I will cos I don't think I could face waiting any longer...

I'm still calling around, unfortunately.
I thought I had a pre-order this week when I stopped by a local Funcoland. I spoke with a sales clerk over the phone and asked him if they were accepting PS3 pre-orders. He told me they were in fact accepting them so I drove there immediately. I put $50 down and told him I wanted it to go torwards the $600 SKU.
When I got home, I received a phone call about the receipt for the actual pre-order, which I said I'd pick up the next day. When I got there the following day, another rep told me they weren't taking them yet and the initial receipt I got was just for store credit. As you can imagine, I was pretty pissed, but I gracefully accepted the store credit; I'll just put it torwards the pre-order when they actually begin doing it.

as you know im one of the biggest playstation fan on this planet, nut $600 is alot of money to spend on gaming system.. not to mention you have to buy a game when u get a PS3.
that would makes $650 a pop :(
i have the money.. but i may not get it at launch.
My PSP will keep me busy until then.. not to mention there will be alot of PS1 classics for psp emu :)

It seems like the only pivotal thing missing in the more expensive model is the hdmi because you can upgrade the harddrive and theres ways around the other missing features in the less expensive model. After taking all of this in, i'm very satisfied with what i've seen in the PS3..and i think its totally worth the money ($500 that is).
Especially if you put it in perspective. Some people actually pay $200+ for phones (i wont but you get the idea). And when you think about other electronics...than really this is no huuuge investment. Personally i had to buy two different PS2's. I broke my first one that i bought for $300. and my second was $150. And when you consider paying full price for games that's well over $600 in the long run.
So if you play your cards right (don't buy games brand new to save money, save money and pre-order ect.) and put everythig in perspective..than i think i would be very satisfied when i'm sitting in my living room playing MGS4 after spending $500 on it.
I can't find any shop where I can pre-order mine... I leave in France.
If any french guy could help.
I will of course get the 599€ one.

Gaming stores are non-existent where I live, maybe bigger cities have them to some degree but consoles and games are mostly sold here via basic retail market chains. And they won't take any preorders :P
I've still preordered my chrome lettered precious via 'net store, hopefully we get enough machines into our country within the launch window.

Pre-ordered mine from lik-sang over a year ago...
Pre-order placed at gamestation today, £20 of the £425 paid. GAME are not doing pre-orders yet (but I am at the top of the pre-pre-order list). In the space of this weekend they have had 52 people (of the 80 ps3's they will get) say they will put deposits down and this for a console that costs more than 50% more than the 360 in small, poor town like Burnley (I live in the UK btw).
^^ gamestation are taking preorders, i got mine reserved

I preordered mine at Gamecrazy December 26th, the first day it could be done, for $50. I was 9th on the list. Considering this, how good do you guys think my chances of getting a PS3 on launch day are?

I preordered mine with Gamestation today. A good thing is that they don't make you buy the console with a game or two, aka bundles. The preorder is just for the console itself. Also they said that the 20GB will not be available at launch, just the 60GB version in the UK for now.

Hmm... Well.. You know... XBox games are region free... Kind of, not really, maybe. If Licenses decide they want to region lock their games, they can. I need to see it with my own eyes, one thing we know about PS3 is specifications are not written in stone.
And I don't want to be running around shouting "PS3 is sooo kewl, you can buy all your games from the US for cheap, unlike those other two consoles", only to be let down...
You know, after running around for the last year advocating the advantages of dual hdmi.
