And im glad because those people need to be let down.

With the constant... "it doesnt look next gen .... see"

I hope every system and game they pay for is stolen then found smashed in thier front yard.

Same here, some stuff isn't looking so hot, but I have seen nothing that isn't at least an improvment in one way or another over last gen games, even if it isn't in the graphics department.

I have a slightly different perspective regarding next-gen.
When you consider the jump from PSOne to PS2 the move was so significant due to the fact the developers was up to speed with the technology.(I know the PS2 was difficult to program for, but I'm referring the resources. The developers did not have to completely re-think the way they approached development.) The PS3 is so "bleeding edge" for the first time the hardware is ahead of the software development community... I agree the launch titles for the PS3 at this point are impressive, but they are only scratching the surface... Also, if you look at the PS3 visual in comparison to PS2 titles they are a huge improvement from a poly count and resolution perspective.

It's going to take time for the PS3 to truely deliver the "CG" quality visuals some are expecting from day one... I would say if you want CG wait a few years for the developers to learn the platform, but I personally could not continue playing current gen for another 2 to three years.

Overall people need to have realistic expectation, theres nothing wrong with wanting improvements, but let's be reasonable. Also, I think next gen AI, physics & animation are not getting the focus it deserves. I want to hear more about innovations regarding gameplay not just visuals. Personally I'm very excited about Assassin Creed the team is taking a very ambitious approach.

Amazing how many views have changed since the E3 showing.

Wounding, not sure if your comment is aimed at my post, but I have made the same statements from day one my friend... Also, I personally think the visuals on display at E3 were impressive. I will be curious to see how many folks jump back on the PS3 bandwagon after 2006 TGS, I guarantee the PS3 will own the event, you can quote me on that... Peace

If the whole problem is the learning curve for the PS3 I am all for Sony waiting another year before launching the console or the game developers spending more money to higher more people to learn the insides and outs of the system.

To a great degree I believe it is all about finances. If we are willing to accept less than their best they sure will sell it to us, because it means they have to pay less expenses to make the game in the first place. If they can make more profit they sure will do so in a heart-beat and the quality of the title will fall far, far, far down the list.

Of course if there really are two specification improvements in the dev kits coming along the pike and most of these games are far from complete (in graphical QUALITY and not just how many levels are ready to be used) then perhaps the time between now and November *may* be enough to get some of these games looking up to par *if* the financial aspect does not take priority.

MILR, your viewpoint is so 1-dimensional it's completely flabberghasting.

MILR, I think we all understand your position, you have stated it many times.
You want photorealistic graphics, we all understand your position no need to repeat the same request over & over...

Not every developer is pushing for photo realism, art direction does play a factor in the decision my friend... Also, I think it is unfair to assume every title that does not deliver photorealistic visuals is trying to cut corners and somehow cheat the consumer. I thought fight night was a visually stunning game, but the game could have been a whole lot better and had more depth from a gameplay and content perspective. I played Fight Night non stop for a week and after that time the pretty visuals effect left and all I had was a mediocre boxing title and I have not played the game since. It's a balance between great gameplay and visuals, everyone on the forum is trying desperately to help you see this, if you consider yourself a true gamer...

I will use an analogy, you meet a beautiful girl at the bar and get lucky a few nights later...
Once you get to know the girl you realize she is a dumb as a doorstop, materialistic & shallow.
Eventually she would get old and you would move on. I'm not saying date "mud ducks" I'm just saying it's a balance. I like women with beauty and substance, it's a balance you can't be so shallow my friend. Perhaps since I put this in different terms you may get the picture... Peace

By the way, I arrest my case. My points still stand about many issues, but when it comes to the PS3 I have decided it is good enough for me. Look for my new thread.

Motorstorm gives me the best feeling of Next-Gen at the moment.
The mud physics, the crashes, the AI reactions, the graphics are all excellent. The only thing is the speed of the game but that's surely to improve.

I can't wait until Dev figure out this RSX + The Cell pair. As if I wasn't happy enough already once that era kicks in.....

When I saw the demo where they write stuff on the mud I thought "This is a game to show off the PS3 physics, fair enough." But then I've watched Frosty's gameplay footage and for a second there, I literally started drooling. If I heard correctly the guy said they were aiming for maximum of 16 players? All ripping and sliding through the mud? Possibly online! Also when I saw the thumbnail in one of the sites that lead to the footage, I thought "If they have a footage why are they using a CGI screenshot?" But it turns out it was from the footage. The graphic advancement from the Developer Conference to E3 are just stunning. These guys must be getting whipped by Sony to work 24/7 and if it's any concelation- They are doing a great job ;)
I had much fun WATCHING the game.

I love the fact that one can destroy those ramps that smaller vehicles use and those little animations they added to the game with drives flipping off each other and bikers kicking the side of another vehicle when it gets too close.

And Heavenly Sword looked SWEET, SUPER SCHWEET.

well, while some people are moaning and groaning about it not looking next gen enough the rest of us will be having a great time with our games that we perceive to be great anyway.

Man it feels like a while since I've been *in* the PS3 forum...

PS3 will be a console worth getting, this I can say with confidence. The games look good and play well... the UI is there; it's just a slick experience overall.

Now, I do think that the price makes people waver - not because it's high for what you get per se - but just because they were hoping for a clear/obvious price/feature advantage over 360.

But a Warhawk developer I spoke to (and I'll write up some of what we spoke about later maybe) noted the paradox of the two big complaints he was hearing when I asked him for his thoughts about the price.

One - that the price was too high.

Two - that the supplies were too low. :smoke:
