"Ps3-500" will not come with a wirless controller."
"ps3-500" HDD woun't be upgradable."
"You can't get 720p or 1080i BluRay movies without HDMI"
"ps3-500 won't be backwards compatible"
I think I know the answer to these questions but I want to get it clear before I argue with people.

Man, you should first check the entire first few pages of the forum. These have already been shunned BIGTIME.
Check this below to make yourself a believer. No need to create thread after thread. It'd create mass confusion.
Go to this link for your rumor fixation.

1) "Ps3-500" will not come with a wirless controller."Controllers use Bluetooth. Both PS3 models feature Bluetooth (proof on the logo on the side). There has not been any talk about the content of the SKUs, but there are no news on "wired" controllers. Wireless controllers can be manually wired to charge the batteries while playing, but that doesn't make them wired.
2) "ps3-500" HDD woun't be upgradable."Absolutely not true. HDD is removable in both versions. What is more, any 2.5" SATA HDD the user buys can be used to upgrade the console (no need of "Sony's proprietary HDD" if such fake thing is implied by the rumour). Officially confirmed by Sony representatives.
3) "You can't get 720p or 1080i BluRay movies without HDMI"False. Component cable through AV Out can provide these resolutions. Confirmed by every HD user in the world.
4) "ps3-500 won't be backwards compatible"No word on this one, but PS and Xbox consoles philosophy of BC is very different.
In short: all that FUD is false and groundless. 2 and 3 are utterly false. 1 and 4 will need proof that doesn't exist at the moment, but the known facts point to the "That's totally BS" direction.

"Ps3-500" will not come with a wirless controller."
I've seen this written in one article, however, I've seen nothing official to suggest this is true.
"ps3-500" HDD woun't be upgradable."
They've said it's a standard HD and should be upgradable.
"You can't get 720p or 1080i BluRay movies without HDMI"
Sadly this is almost true. First off it's not HDMI that you need, but HDCP compliance, which covers HDMI and HDCP compliant DVI (not all DVI is HDCP compliant). If you have these you are fine.
If you're using a non compliant interface, say component, then you are at the mercy of the dreaded ICT or Image Constraint Token. This is a flag (a single value, either on or off) on BluRay and HD-DVD discs, as required by AACS (copyright agreement). Each disc has one of these token values on it, and it is up to the movie studio as to whether then leave it off (the movie will play at hi def through a component cable) or switch it on (the signal will be down "rezzed" to 540x960 on a component cable). I think Sony/MGM and Disney haev said they won't be using ICT, but others like Warner will be using it.
"ps3-500 won't be backwards compatible"
Nothing has been said to suggest this, it doesn't make technical sense (unlike with XB, the cheaper Sony still has harddrive access) and it goes against what Sony have said, that the cheaper PS3 is supposed to bring the gaming experience of the dearer one but without the multimedia versatility.

Since the HD is upgradeable and internal could upgrading the HD void your warranty since it would require opening the machine.

Nope it wouldn't void the warranty as far as I can tell from the console screenshots available so far. The HDD fits inside the PS3 box from a specified opening on the left side. You'll see that there is a crease around a lid like surface hinting it could be popped open with relative ease. I'm sure if Sony is admitting into allowing everyone to upgrade HDD at will, this won't be an issue at all given the lid is right there for access by anyone! Notice that there are no screws or anything. Just a pop open lid.

I was wondering about this one.
