Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise is strict when it comes to digital entertainment; he apparently forbids his two kids from playing games and watching television. His two kids, Isabella (13) and Connor (11), are supposed to help around the house instead of wasting their time with those activities.

And although they have teachers at home, they're encouraged to spend more time outdoors. "The kids have no computer games. And absolutely no television. None," he said.

He defends this decision by saying, "They can listen to music and read just about any book they want, and they can choose the movies they want to see on the weekends, within reason. They also have chores, because I want them to know that it's important to work. I had a job when I was eight years old delivering newspapers. So for me, it's like: You want a clean room? Then you've got to clean your room. No one is going to do it for you."

It's good to teach them to do stuff themselves, but no videogames and TV? What!? Thank goodness Tom Cruise isn't my dad!

Well, I'm all for disciplining a child but taking away TV and Video games altogether could make little Isabella and Connor two very dull little children! :)

I allow my own Daughter to watch some TV now and again and because of it, her speech is fantastic for a 2 year old.

Lord Xenu, Space MadMan (AKA Tom "The Psyco" Cruise) sucks period. I have never liked him in anything. And yah, he sounds like a horrible father. He is going to brain wash his kids into being like him. He is a freak. I will not say why because other people here might believe like he does....:tardbang:..(cough cough, Scientology...hahahahahahahaha....)

My daughter watches TV and her speech is fine. She play video games, but plays with other kids much more, by her choice. My daughter also reads books and draws a lot. I give her a choice. She can choose because I believe it is good for kids to have the power of choice and resposibility. She also cleans her room and helps clean the house, by her choice. I tell her why it is good to do these things and she understands. See? No control like a facist. So how bad are TV and video games? You decide, I have all ready. Cruise just wants to control everything and everyone around him, no matter what it is. Like he controls Kattie Holms. Anyone hear what he did to her during her giving brith? Look it up someday, it sucks big time. Why do think his ex woman Nicole Kidman left his ass?

Those video games cause violent tendencies, looks like Mr. Cruise is right.

Video games of any kind cant make a child violent. If some kid is screwed up enough to go on a killing spree like in GTA, then they are going to do that anyway regaurdless of whether or not they play the game.

As for Tom Cruise... well he can do what he wants, but I suggest he doesnt let them go on the internet either cause eventually theyll come across something that makes fun of him. Maybe thats why he doesnt want them watching TV... Or maybe its against his beliefs.

His two kids, Isabella (13) and Connor (11)...
Wait, so he already has two kids?
Why is he having another one? (Besides the possibility of publicity.)
Is he just trying to populate the world with more of him?

...and they can choose the movies they want to see on the weekends, within reason.
'Any movie within reason' being any of his movies.
Well maybe not.

So for me, it's like: You want a clean room? Then you've got to clean your room. No one is going to do it for you."
Says the famous movie star who probably has people who he hires to do that for him.
Or maybe he doesn't, I don't know.

Actually, whatever.

He sounds like a fucktard of a dad. If it was my da I would stab him with a kitchen knife.Maybe this is why they can't play video games? Hmm?

Anyway, that's overly strict, but that doesn't make him a bad father. He certainly could do better, but then again this is Tom Cruise we're talking about.

I get the feeling that Noz was being Ironic.

@ TheCube : I'd have to say that video games can make children violent, depending on what age that child is. If my Daughter, who is 2, sees me beating the crap out or prostitutes and generally anyone in GTA then that is obviously going to have a mental affect on her.

I get enough beatings off her as it is... :(

More power to him. I don't agree with his choice of parenting, but hey, I will say reading is one hell of a lot better than melting your brain watching TV five hours a day.
