Yes, I could be a moron and 400 dollars for PC to hook up to my TV. That's absolutely a wonderful option. +1 for Ape Extreme.
Or not.

It was a poor atempt at a joke, like him saying that it was the new console's controllers..but they were clearly PS2 ones.
Anyways...

ApeXtreme is an electronic game console that plays games designed to be played on a personal computer. Its Windows® architecture means that the ApeXtreme is not platform-dependent like other consoles.
Clearly this console is targetted at the consumer electronic segment, as Apex has a strong presence in this segment with their line of DVD products. The Windows compatibility of the machine indicates that it will have broader functionality then the XBOX and PS2, and allows greater choice of software to be run on the platform. The Windows XP operating system is embedded, and optimized for quick boot times for 'instant-on' capability. The unit targets the following tasks:
Gaming (up to and including Dx9 titles)
DVD Playback (Integrated Mpeg 2 decoder and six channel audio)
MP3 Playback
Image Viewing
Anticipated specifications are as follows:
1.4 Ghz C3 processor
20 GB Hard drive
256 MB RAM
DeltaChrome or UniChrome based graphics chip
Anticipated connectivity options are as follows:
USB 2 ports
DVI / S-Video output
Ethernet / Modem
SPDIF
---------------------
Atleast it will most likely be better than the PSX

It looks cool but I wouldn't waste my money on that. Most people have a PC and DVD player so whats the point?

Anticipated specifications are as follows:
This is what Mr. Computer/DVD/Sterio is for
1.4 Ghz C3 processor
I've got a 2.40 Ghz
20 GB Hard drive
32.1 Gigs here
256 MB RAM
446 Megs. Sorry
DeltaChrome or UniChrome based graphics chip
Probably the only advantage over my computer. I have an old video card which will be replaced promptly
Anticipated connectivity options are as follows:
USB 2 ports
I've got 3
DVI / S-Video output
No idea what the fuck this is but I've probably got it
Ethernet / Modem
Long live wireless broadband
SPDIF
Again, an acronym that begs one to ask wtf is this?

Atleast it will most likely be better than the PSX
This will be better than the PSX. However, not better than another Sony product... my Computer. (If it were up to me I would have gotten a Dell)
There were some dumbshit kids at my school a couple days ago that said Japan already had PS4. (Which, being the dumbass he was he thought PSX was PS4) This just left one hole in his reasoning: what happened to PS3?
i hope the apextreme burns in phantom hell
