I have been hearing alot of talk from Harrison about "myspace"...

Quote:

Harrison: Playstation 3 has a browser, so you can get into MySpace from your Playstation 3.

SPIEGEL ONLINE: It sounds like you're planning to do even more networking than yu have already.

Harrison:Yes, we do. But I can't elaborate at the moment.

In my opinion he wouldnt be talking about myspace unless sony is planning on integrating with it somehow, just imagin being able to go on myspace community and see whos playing PS3 GAMES , that would be awesome, and being able to be on the PS3 view your friends, and be integrated directly with the myspace community. This would be amazing, simply because there are allready Tons of people, downloads, movies, music etc...

If sony where to do something incredible this would be it, just imagine the possiblities - the framework is allready there...

Whats your views?

Rupert Murdoch just bought Myspace for $583 million so I doubt it's going back up for sale so we can probably cancel that direction out.

A partnership is not out of the question though however I feel that Sony is just saying MySpace simply due to the sites popularity and not really any hinting at a business possibility.

Yeah that's basically my take as well.

"Dear mr. Murdoch, what have you done? With your news of the screws and your soaraway sun..."

I wouldn't say seamless integration, but as long as PS3 features a full-blown browser, there will not be many limitations.

If this is true than that could mean a potential 82,183,552 customers.

What, like all Myspace users won't know about the PS3 until some form of integration?

Myspace integration doesn't change the potential user base any.

I think Phil mentioned Myspace because back at GDC he said they were looking to places like Myspace for a lot of their ideas when it comes to community features and obviously that's a good place to look for a sort of inspiration, right? I hate Myspace for personal reasons so I don't think I'll be going there on my PS3 :-p

Well... some of those hardcore Myspace fanatics (believe me, they exist) may have never owned a PS console. They will be intrigued by the Myspace functionality and consider a purchase. This is all considering if this is even true.

yeah...I sort of grew outta the myspace thing too-However, having a full-browser on my spankin new HDTV doesn't sound too bad...And playing all my content like anime and home-made videos from my PS3 are all things I'm looking forward too this November. That and of course a price-drop.lol

Handy, the PS3 won't offer them anything on Myspace their PC already does. It's not like they'll see PS3 users with Myspace pages doing out of this world things that a PC Myspace user can't.

I think Phil wants to adopt a myspace type model for their version of "Live"
that is all, this seems to be a bit too far stretching for me to believe.
Though SOE does have a few myspace pages for some of their games......

Well.. I was kind refering to the browser in general, even if I didn't make that clear. Having that could attract many people alone.

That's what I'm saying. What functionality will this browser have for Myspace that is so much more compelling than say the extensions that are already available for FireFox? Any integration would be more like a nice extra for those Myspace users that buy a PS3 and not something distinguishable enough from a PC experience on Myspace to just make them all customers.

We'll enhance this with social networks, the MySpace experience, this will be a key part of the PlayStation3 going forward. What brings it to life is the voice chat, the text chat, the video, the social features we’re building in for the future.

MySpaceWhereTheSunDontShine! -_____-When people's PS3's break down and they forget to remove the detachable HDD before returning it, some customer service employees are going to have fun. Or maybe not :barf:
