Hmm, With all of these WW2 Games coming out do you think germans will get Offended by this at all? I mean there is alot of german killing in them, Pretty pointless thread but I was just wondering.

I would assume...
I personally think it's crappy how many games there are based on real wars. It just doesn't feel right to me.

All of them comeing out? Your joking right? As if there has not been like a million of so of them already. And they haven't gotten offended yet, so who care anyways? I am mostly German and I could give a rats ass.

There have been alot of WW games, I assume because its the easiest way to make it more realistic (as opposed to shooting aliens or something).

Well, most of today's Germans don't support Hitler. And since the soldiers you're killing have no real identities...

Did you hear that funny interview with Dirk on the radio as well?;)
I myself have killed countless germans (not all of them in a game). As Pheonix said, its not like Germany is a big nazi party nowadays, and if they were, we would just go back there and kick their asses again.
They shouldn't be offended, because It's something that really happened... whether or not we put it into a video game doesn't matter, and hell, if they wanted to they could make a WWII game from the German point of view and I wouldn't care one bit.

That's precisely why they get offended.
Anyway there was some outcry from some Germans a while ago about all this anti-German killing in games but it never got too much attention so thay gave up.
Good times.

I think its more of a way the war is potrayed. That is every verteran kinda hates it.
And I guess the way the soldiers are potrayed. If it were like a movie and they could show some emotion or something behind the soldiers other then just a "fuck you and die" type attitude.

If they did make a game from the other perspectice, eg. Germans killing Americans, Im pretty sure alot of people would be pissed and it might not see an American release. Even if you guys dont care about it.

I guess your right. Alot of WWII games are really starting to give emotion to the characters, but for the most part you really are just some guy who seems to be able to take 20+ bullets ripping into your body without slowing. You really are nothing more than a WMGD -- Weapon of Mass German Destruction.
I think CoD did an ok job with this, mostly because it does the best job it can of showing what real war was like, by giving you at least 10 squadmates at all times. They die left and right, and it really makes you believe that you are only surviving by the purest luck, not just that you are some super human able to withstand what should kill the strongest man, and sure you can take a few more bullets than is realistic, but far fewer than in games like MoH.

I wouldn't mind playing a Japanese/European/whatever game of a futuristic war where you kill countless American soldiers who are serving under a feminist dictator. :) So I suppose it's who you're fighting that matters, not what country they're from.
Germans as well as the rtest of the world are against Nazies. you are fighting the Nazie 'bad guys'. I think they are fin with it. WW2 game sell well in Germany too, I would expect.
talking about WW2, I want other wars to have some interest from devs. there are a fiew here and there, but they aren't realy as popular. I got bored of WW2 games since the second MoH on PS2.

Well Some German people still support Hitler even though he is dead, And Btw Its "Nazi" But I guess loads of germans are like :whogives:
Is it just me, or are the WWII games based around the pacific theatre kind of boring? I prefer fighting Nazi's...
And besides, anyone who watches family guy knows that Germany hands out little history pamphlets when you enter the country, and their is a big empty space from 1939 to 1945. They insest that everyone was on vacation.
