I haven’t been around much lately to do any digging on facts or possible scenarios on why PS3 Killzone 2 or final RSX/Cell specs weren’t presented at this years Sony PS3 E3 showing. So I wondering guys/gals…what’s your opinion or beliefs on the no-shows?
You may also start another topic related to the material at hand……….

Ken said, Linux wasn't annouced or shown at E3 because....well, it's E3. I can only guess that being the very same reason nothing about RSX came up then; it was way above the heads of those that attendant the conference.
Killzone 3, Resident Evil 4 and a lot of the other top anticipated titles weren't shown because the representatives said that they wanted to save the experience for TGS. ;) :stirpot:

the answer for killzone was, we'll show it when it's ready, the capcom heavy hitters will be at TGS, yeah.

E3 was quite disappointing. They could have showed many more things and give some more details about the online platform and so. PS3's specifications are pretty much well known even if there's something we're not totally sure about yet. Sony is either keeping that information for later this year or they're probably giving some final touches to everything PS3 before they are officially announced.
And yes, I believe TGS will be much more interesting because of the games. However, I'm concerned whether there will be good coverage since last TGS seemed to be only about MGS4 (and it pretty much was :-p)

Killzone probably wasn't shown because it looked no where near the E3 2005 trailer.

Welcome back!!
I believe that they held back on Killzone because it wasn't ready. Same goes for Capcom's games.
About the clockspeeds of RSX and Cell, I have no idea, but I reccomend that you read through this thread (http://forums.e-mpire.com/showthread.php?t=57267).

Yea it's pretty much been covered already. Expect playable DMC4 and RE5 at TGS. But I'm not sure what we'll get out of the Sony conference or GDC. You'd have to look into that.

Sony is more than likely making some final tweaks to the Cell & RSX for performance purposes... Also, Killzone was not shown because more than likely it's not in playable form. Due to the controversy caused by the 2005 E3 trailer Sony needs to approach this game carefully... I'm not sure if Killzone 2 will be shown at TGS unless they have an impressive real-time build or playable demo.

It'll probably be playable on the showfloor from the next time they show it, since otherwise, people will just say that it's another hoax. Especially if it looks as good as it did at E3 '05:-p

I dunno guys...the only game that's gotten even close to E3 demos in playable form is Heavenly Sword-and that still doesn't match Killzone's or Motorstorm demo. I guess the Killzone devs can get off a 5 min. demo of 1 level tho...

Am I the only maniac that thinks Motorstorm did an amazing job at closing in on the "rendered" footage of E3 05? Improve mud, add more racers (as they said they would) and I think it looks as good.
It still the only game taht amazes me as I watch the gameplay footage over and over again. For some reason I already got over HS.
Anyway, Sony always take their time and especially with Killzone, they can't afford to show anything that isn't 100% ready to be shown. Even if one tiny bullet is created incorrectly in the game, it will cause chaos.

Isnt it obvious why Sony didnt release the specs. They want to copy Nintendo and not release the specs too, DUH! Actually I am suprised some deranged fanboy hasnt used that in an argument yet. Anyway they probably didnt release the specs for one of two reasons. Either they downgraded them and a mixture of that and the price would have caused a suicide bombing at E3, or they upgraded them and want to release that information at TGS to up everyones spirits before the launch.
As for Killzone thats most likely because it isnt up to par with the pre-rendered demo shown last year and they didnt want everyone to be able to say "I told you so!" just yet. They will probably show it next year, after 2 years they should be able to get close or equal to the demo shown last year.

Ummm.......I have heard Nintendo fanboys say that......which is sad........
And there is no way they are gonna show Killzone till it is as close as they can get it to the E3 video. I still think that Killzones graphics are doable, even if Killzone fails to deliver.

Wow man! u are back Nerve damage.. We need some cool stuff that u always provided us.. SEE U AROUND *offtopic :P*
I didn't think motorstorm looked all that amazing. good definately. just not amazing. I have seen people argue every point on the Killzone trailer...
"its all ingame engine!"
"its 100% CG!"
"its a mix!"
I think people should chill and just wait for sony to reveal everything.

Not to sound like a broken record, but I just hope my source is correct on the RSX still being a tri-core design. :stirpot:

Well as you may know, I’m a firm believer in the RSX being a multi-core design. I have two good sources…very reliable sources. Read some of my previous threads or post and you’ll see where I’m coming from.

Sony did not showed Killzone at E3 because Killzone was not far enough to be playable yet. Sure, you can move the camera around and such, but there's no point to that. Sony will not show Killzone until Killzone is fully playable. So that means either TGS or later.

I think most of us are fans of his theories. Some of the best things to be posted on these boards, EVER.
I dunno guys...the only game that's gotten even close to E3 demos in playable form is Heavenly Sword-and that still doesn't match Killzone's or Motorstorm demo.
what does HS, KZ and MS have anything to do with each other? everyone of those is done by a totally different team (possibly in totally different countries even). every game is responsible to look like the representive trailers they showed of it before that was hinted at being like the final in-game visuals and physics.
these are only SOny games as others eather met their own standard or haven't showing anything indicated gameplay at all. MS didn't look like the E3 footage and neither did F1. KZ is still to be seen and HS looks exactly like the show. look at both videos of the two events. you can't notice any single difference. the devs said that was because they mad the E3 demo using in-gam assets and not targets or anything like that.
speaking of F1 and MS; the only time to judge the game is when it is released. the games can still look the same as they do now at launch, but for an accurate judgement we have to wait till the finished product shipps. it is then that we can call it as we see it. they will either make it or not (regardless of how good, close or better they are. we are only talking about meeting a presumed standard in very certain points).
they also said that KZ is not a launch or even a close to launch project. that is why it will take a while for them to show it. it is the same reason why they didn't show SOCOM, Siren 3, God of War 3, etc.
have patients, SOny has a lot of games. you can't expect them to show everything at once. or do you want Tekken 6 level graphics for everything. ;p
this is only something to add to your post. please don't turn this into a 2005 E3 thread again. O_o
Isnt it obvious why Sony didnt release the specs. They want to copy Nintendo and not release the specs too, DUH!
I don't know if you are being serious or not, but to answer that anyway, it isn't the same thing. far from it, even. everything is shown or not depending on whether it will get positive effects or not. if it will look bad, they won't talk about it. if it will add to the marketing and hype, they'll make it in bolds.
Ninty is keeping Rev specs because they aren't nearly as high as PS3 or even X2. so why bother getting yourself downtalked in every major site, mag and board for? save yourself the bad publicity (which in this case doesn't mean good publicity).
on the other hand, Sony has everyright to boast because it has all the specs. even if PS3 games look like PSOne games, or the system has problems or is imposible to write for. it all doesn't matter in this regard. all that matters in this specific move is my numbers look higher than the rest. people will psychologically think that PS3 will be the better system because the numbers are higher- even though %99.999 of gamers don't have a single clue what the numbers actually mean.
simple marketing 101; exploite anything you have ;)
PS. this marketing method can fireback of course, but the immediate results and the time till some points are debunked may be worth the stunt if it actually pays off.

Nerve Damage,
I sure do you hope you are correct about the RSX. I will be very disapointed if after all of Sony's hype if the RSX is nothing more than an off the shelf PC part. I mean, they claim that they and NVIDIA have put so much work into the RSX, but as of right now everything officially stated indicates they could probably have just ordered the standard NVIDIA product and slapped it in the PS3.
Something fishy is going on. If it does turn out that the RSX is just a slightly modified off the shelf part then Sony will NOT get my business. I don't like being manipulated, and when they claim that they have been working with NVIDIA to make the RSX "custom" that BETTER really mean SOMETHING!
