View Full Version : NBA Finals
Miami Heat vs Dallas Mavericks, both first time finalists. I'm going with Dallas in 6.

Dallas will win the finals because they have the speed and they have Avery Johnson. I never thought that avery johnson was going to very successful in such a short time. that guy is a genius
The mavericks have beaten the heat the last 2 meetings in regular season, even though people say it doesn’t matter in the finals I think it does, because it will add to the mavs mental toughness when they face the heat.
Also, Mavs beat the defending champions in seven.. being down by three points in the 4th with 20 seconds left... on the road.... yup.
I hope Stackhouse doesn’t fuck it up like he usually does when it really matters.
That is my only doubt.

Mavs as well as they already showed they can beat a team with the Heat's style of play.

I'm hoping the Heat can win the Finals as they already did me a favor when they knocked out the Pistons
A finals without the Spurs or Pistons...dream come true

I'm going with Heat.
Here is an offer. We all (the ones that want to participate) type
Bet: Heat
or
Bet: Mavericks
And who-ever bet for the losing team gets -Rep (with the comment: Wrong team!) from all that participated and whoever bet for the winning team gets +Rep (with the comment: Right team!) from all that participated.
Thought it would be fun so if anyone does want to play this little game:
BET: MIAMI

Did I not predict the mavs going all the way this year?
Monster Zero i gotta agree with you on the stackhouse thing though, he does fuck up ALOT of games. Although he played really good in the 2nd half last night. I hope he keeps playing well through the miami series, none of those stupid turnovers or shots.

That game last night was horrible. I guess though if dallas wins sunday, then tuesday they can win the championship at home.
hey link, nice to see another member from the dallas area.
Joke Nowinzki showed up last night

Hey now, Dirk is not joke; watch him in game 5. I bet he's gonna be hot. The suspension Stackhouse got was totally unfair.
D3adcell, it's all always good to see fellow posters from the Texas.

Yeah that was bullshit that stackhouse got suspended. There are alot of people on mavsforum.com that think Stu Jackson hates the mavs and mark cuban and is trying to help miami win anyway possible.
That foul stackhouse gave shaq was no way warranting a suspension.

I don't think that he should get suspended for that...people get fouled in basketball, get over it
I was more suprised that he could actually knock Shaq down
Stackhouse getting suspended is consistent with the suspensions so far in these playoffs. That being said, I don't agree with it either; it didn't look worse than any other flagrant foul.

Dangit, Dallas should had game 5 and i don't agree with that last foul call for Wade one bit. Wade seriously gets to the foul line too much and the officails aren't giving Dallas enough imo. But despite that, down the stretch Dallas should have played better defense.
I just want a game 7. I think Dallas will get the calls next game.

I want it to go to 7 too, Dallas is back at home and they get Stackhouse back so I think they'll win

I'm rooting for Miami. I wouldn't be disappointed if Dallas won either because both teams have heart.

KEY: The area encompassing the free throw circle and free throw lane; so name because it was shaped like a keyhole when the lane was narrower than the free throw circle.
BACKCOURT: A team shall not be in continuous possession of a ball which is in its backcourt for more than 8 consecutive seconds.
The team that got the "tip-off" gets the ball at teh start of the 1st(obviously) and 4th quarters, the other team gets the ball at the start of the 2nd and 3rd.
NBA OFFICIAL RULES (http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_index.html) - find the other answers here
3. How do you have/get a "Foul to give". Where the other team doesn't shoot a free throw.
That term is used for when a team will not be over the penalty if they foul the other team again. A team can commit up to four defensive or loose ball fouls in a quarter without the other team shooting free throws, if the foul is non-shooting. After the fifth, the other team will get free throws whether the player being fouled was shooting or not. So at the start of the quarter, you have 4 fouls to give, 3 if you commit one and so on.
4. What's "discontinue" ? whne you stop the ball, and take a step ? and then your opponents get the ball, right ?
I beleive you are referring to travelling. Travelling is a turnover, so the other team gets the ball.

I'm not sure. In my NBA games, when I fouls somebody they inbound the ball only once. Then they shoot.
Depends on the type of foul, but your settings(if your talking about a video game) may need to be adjusted. Some fouls are auto-matice free throws(usually persoanl fouls), some are not(usually a team foul).
You should fine tune yoru internet search skills, if you are looking for slang street rules.
It should be rather easy......
Heat 95, Mavs 92
Miami Heat 05-06 champs. I thought it was a good series, didn't like that foul on Dirk in the closing seconds where Wade pushed off though.
MVP is Wade, no surprise there.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't it seems like Wade put his hands on Dirk, cause I saw Dirk was just in the way, not like he moved or anything...

Its bullshit, i am no longer watching the NBA. Fuck them all. The bullshit calls that miami got was insane. Like the one you mentioned above, then at the end were gary payton is pulling on terrys jersey (which went unnoticed by the refs).
Or what about earlier in the game, when terry didn't touch wade and he fell back and got the call. Or when daniels didn't touch him and he got the call. Or when he threw himself into harris and what happens? Harris gets a blocking foul?
I'm done with NBA.
>.>
>_<
Aw, we had a good chance when Wade missed those huge freethrows...
and that pull, I saw that, but it would have been a 2 shots penalty, cause I didn't think he was shooting the three when the other guy pulled his shirt. He was still running.
Come early November, you'll be back. There's no reason why Dallas can't contend for the title again next year.
