Playing Lost Planet. Gone through the first 3 missions and it doesn't seem to have much up it's sleeve you haven't seen in the demo. I'll play it till the end.

If it's going to be 13 missions of shooting giant bugs in their orange bits and not much else it's going to be nothing but eye candy really. We shall see.

I'm playing Dreamfall: The Longest Journey (Xbox) and Call of Cthulhu (that's Ka-thoo-loo): Dark Corners of the Earth (PC). I gotta say CoC is pretty gruesome and has a very creepy atmosphere to it. It's not really an action game more of a go and find this evidence here (and some shooting sequences here and there) but the story is like one of the best I've seen in a game so far. It's very gripping! Haven't tried Dreamfall yet I will later today. BTW Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 is probably the most repetitive game I've ever played and gets boring after maybe 5-6 hours of gameplay. Don't spend more than $20 on it! Thank god I just rented it.

Nearly finished Lost Planet. I was wrong, it wasn't 13 missions of shooting bugs in their orange bits...

There's only 11 missons. :)

Not the blockbuster title I thought it would be,the reviews giving it 8.1/10 are on the money, fingers crossed for the next 360 blockbuster I want, Bioshock. *parp* Think it's around 10-12 hours to finish if you do a bit of exploring, so it's quite a good ride.

Started playing Resistance on hard with a USA game save so I get blood! Resistance on hard isn't that hard to be honest. Escepially with some new weapons. I'll bang through Gears on hard too later, when I've had a chance to forget some of the "puzzles".

I'll get back to FF12 after that, then finish the excellent Zelda, I'm such a disgusting graphics whore, I'll jump anything in 720p. I'm trying not to buy any games till March so I can finish the better (480p/i) games I have.

Catching up on some portable games. No new real console games so why not. Got Medal of Honor Heroes, Killzone Liberation, Elite Beat Agents, Yoshi's Island DS, Metal Gear Portable Ops, and a couple others. Good stuff. That PSP still hurts to play after 90 minutes, wish they'd redesign it.

Well you're shit out of luck for the Mac because NO ONE supports it anymore and there's a reason for that. The only good FPS on the Mac is Unreal Tournament 2004 but you can't play online with the PC guys so there are maybe -200 people on there. For your Wii and PS3...ummm Resistance and that's about it. Far Cry Vengeance for the Wii sucks ass. Oh yeah I also think there's a Delta Force game for the Mac too and I hear that's pretty good. The rest of the Mac games are 3rd party crap. Oh yeah and Halo but it's kinda buggy.

Finishing up FF12. It's such an odd game, I'm actually fighting a major boss battle while I'm typing this, but my Gambits and characters are so strong I don't need to give the boss battle any attention, the game plays itself.

And... we're back. *rofl* Rogue Galaxy is nothing like this apparently, have to be awake to play that. But FF12 does what you want, never played an RPG like this before. Niiiiice! No block puzzles or anything, great.

And a bit of Elite Beat Agents I discovered through this site. Second only to Guitar Heroes in rhythm games atm, very good.

Sig...Except I gotta note that FEAR isn't all of what it's cracked up to be. I actually believed the hype until I played it and it's like Half-Life 2 meets Condemned. It's REALLY good it's just not like evolutionary or anything...well maybe the AI is I mean it's right up there with GoW! It's also not exactly next-gen it's like current gen and a half. This may have been better on the PC or something I dunno but it is REALLY creepy and the storyline is kind of confusing. The creepiness go to courtesy of Monolith who also developed Condemned.

Applefiend
01-31-2007, 08:54 AM
Take that back about FEAR! :)

FF12 all done, empty feeling.

Got the Windows PC out of the cupboard, going to be enjoying some PC gaming this weekend. Company of Heroes beckons. PC gaming is really reviving right now.

For yucks playing Medal of Honor Frontline PS2. First person shooters have really really changed in 3/4 years, it's unbelievable, MOHF is really basic now. Kinda sucks now really. Can't throw a grenade easily, can't melle, it blows now.

Worked out how to melle now. :)

But I'll finish it.

Ivory_Soul
01-31-2007, 09:07 PM
Sorry Apple I think maybe the 360 version isn't as good as the PC one or something and this game is like 2 years old anyways so shooters have evolved since then. It's getting better though I'll tell you that :-D I'm debating on an 8.5 or a 9 score. I'm also getting Dead Rising in the mail tomorrow from GameFly I can't wait to play that!

Like I've already mocked Ivory with, I started Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime earlier.

It's adorable, lighthearted and quite a bit of fun. The tank battles are probably the best part though, seeing as that's the only place I've had to use any sort of strategy so far.

Ivory_Soul

That game looks pretty neat it got good reviews (critics and normal people alike) so that's enough for me to play it. Right now I'm going to pop in Dead Rising and ogle at the thousands of zombies and the thousands of things you can kill them with. This will be fun except I'm not looking forward to the crappy save system the people are talking about.

UPDATE: God I've been playing for about 2 hours now and this is the most frustrating game I've ever played (besides Ninja Gaiden) the save system is an asshole! There are only 3 save spots in the whole freaking mall and you have to run long distances to get there and you can die on the way. If you die you have to load your game and that's a bitch just like Ninja Gaiden except DR is less forgiving. If you die and choose "Save Status and Quit" you can't reload your last game. It saves all your stats and stuff and you can only choose to start a new game next time you play but it gives you the stats you had from before. Escorting the people to save them is a PAIN in the ASS! There is only one way to the place and its at the top of the mall and you have to go all these stupid ways to get there. The 72 hour system is a bit annoying because that means you have to rush the game. A part from that this is a good game and graphics are killer and its very bloody. For some reason you can forgive all that if you SAVE after EVERY mission.

Playing more Johnny WW2 games.

Medal of Honor: Frontline - PS2
Past half way mark, it's actually quite enoyable for a nasty old game.

Call of Duty 3 - PS3
In some ways it's actually easy as hell compared to MOH:F. Enemies in MOH only go down with precise headshots, in COD3 you just vaguely pump bullets into them and they go down. You can waste whole rooms of enemies.

COD3 is obviously the better game but MOH:F is suprisingly fun as it's more of a challenge.

After I've finished these two, going on a Ubisoft shooter splurge. (R6V, GRAW1). Don't think I'll play any more shooters for the rest of the year.

Ivory_Soul
02-03-2007, 03:24 PM
Apple play Gears of War or Resistence shame on you! MOH:F was really good I remember renting it back in '02 (god that game is old) and the first part in D-Day where you get on the beach just BLEW me away I remember calling 3 friends over to my house just to see it. I booted it up earlier just to see and it's like shit compared to the entrance in COD:FH or even Call of Duty 1. MOH:F was my first REAL WW2 experience though I'm glad I bought that (in '03 GOD that game is OLLDDD). Call of Duty 3 is amazing though I played it on the PS2 first then when I got a 360 I rented it on that. Whatever you do DON'T play it on hard..it's almost impossible to play.

Applefiend
02-05-2007, 12:55 AM
Finished them both last year guv!

Yeah, MOH:F really sucks now but I like to play old games now and again. Makes you appreciate the new games, and you don't end up on forums at 1am going "Hur hur, this looks like a high res PS2 game". No dude... You play MOH:F then COD3 afterwards you'll go "Wooooaaaaah!".

Enjoying COD3 a lot, even playing it online which I never never do. And won a few ctf games(no.1 on the winning team), not bad for an old joker.

PS3 version is pretty sweet, I prefer it to the 360 version because of the motion control. Hold the sixaxis up to steer the jeep, twirl it to set a charge, push it to the side to melle a guy, I've even used it to paddle a boat. Pretty cool. I'll be happy finishing it on normal. Very decent single player campaign.

It is a little buggy though. Few scripting problems, objects insecting, but you know... What you gonna do. And those Nazis still crazy

"Where we going to set up the gun emplacement?"
"I know, by these exploding barrels".

Not my game of the year material but hey... Better than Genji 2! :)

Ivory_Soul
02-05-2007, 03:12 AM
Yeah COD3 is best on PS3 because of the sixaxis controls and it blows on the Wii. I finished Gears of War last night on Hardcore and RAAM was easier on Hardcore then he was on Casual for some reason...have I lost it? I unlocked 3 achievements in a row though after that...I wish more games were that reasonable *I'm looking at you F.E.A.R.*. I sent back both GameFly games so I'm hoping to get Lost Planet and something...everything's on short wait so who knows. I'll just finish up GRAW, Revenge, and Call of Cthulhu until then.

Good luck Apple...RE4 takes about 20 hours to beat and you'll want to play it again after you're done. When you beat the game you can use everything you had when you start over again. That's why everyone likes playing it so much. The only thing you restart are the levels. I got through 2 missions in Lost Planet and I have to say it's not getting enough credit. This game is on par with Gears graphics wise (maybe even more!) and the gameplay is really fast paced and really fun. This may be one of my favorite 360 games. I also finished downloading Rayman Raving Rabbids for PC and so far it's pretty damn funny and the mini games are really fun.

Play pro mode! RE4 is so intense on pro mode, it's wild!! You need to be experienced to do it, and play the game really cautiously and play a game of odds, strategise, etc etc much more, but when you master normal mode, pro is a very excellent challenge. RE4 got WAAAY more replay from me because of the extra difficulty, it made the game sooo much more scary and intense.

At first, during normal I sucked, so I had a blast trying to survive, then I got too good for normal, so I moved to pro, it was like I was playing the game without having played it before, just it was even better I think during pro mode. I loved it.

Still playing RE4, gonna get back into some past RPGs again. LoD is one I've been playing when I can lately as well. I think I'm gonna start a new Chrono Trigger file, I've only been thru that game once, albeit I played it for a hella long time.

DO EVERY SIDEQUEST!!!! THere is quite abit of sidequesting in CT which really added that extra replay value!

I know, I'm definitely aiming for that! Even when you can immediately beat the game, there's like a million things to do! I love it. I've only just passed the bike race part, I have no time... so annoying lol. Only logged 2 hrs and I've been playing for 2 weeks hahaha.

It's so hard to believe such a large game came on the SNES, it's unbelievable. Earthbound, CT, and others, just wow, SNES forever.

I wipe my own ass. Since that's not about what I'm currently playing and considered spam I'll say something else. Yeah masteratt Black was really good. It was a hard motherfucker to beat and ultra short with only 8 levels but it was really fun, and those cut scenes are EA's thing now. They did that with NFS and like almost every game. It's kind of annoying.

^You sneaky son of a gun! Hahahhahaha. I am t3h jealousy!!!!

EDIT: Got some new games! Yaaaaaaaaa!! Picked up SOTC and Rogue Galaxy today, gonna start off with SOTC! Yay games!

EDIT2: Ok THAT IS *****NG WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT RIGHT HERE!

SOTC is the most beautiful game I have ever come across. No, the graphics are not that amazing technically compared to next gen, no siree, but I just want to say, I would rather look at this piece of wonderful work rather than any screenshot of anything else, any video of anything else, any gameplay of anything else. The artistic beauty of the game has captured me, holy ****! WHAT IS THIS! This is madness, the motion blur for the camera, the beautiful animation, the INSANELY large world, the joy of just riding across the biggest damn plains I have ever seen! WOW! WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW! HOT DAMN MAN! I can see endlessly! The splashing of water! The EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS GAME! The waves even roll!!! The waves that hit the beach are mofoing 3D! Holy frigging crap! The cinematic camera angles!!! Wow!!! The beauty, o my dear lord the beauty!

I don't care about graphics anymore, graphics don't mean squat! Visuals, aesthetics, THAT is the nature of beauty, SOTC is another epitome and perfect example of a beautiful game. F***! So hawt!!!

Next gen sucks so far compared to this! It's nothing compared to this visual triumph, this feast to the eyes, SOTC just kicked everything next gen in the teeth. THIS is how you make a good looking game.

P.S. I love the cinematicness, almost like RE4 in how it was cinematic, but the method this game uses for it's type of game is even more cinematic. I hope future games can use these kinds of views. Seriously, I don't give a crap about fully 3D positional view crap anymore, I want the most beautiful view of the action, SOTC delivers the most beautiful view of the action, straight from the game developers hands, to your eyes, wonderful, I love it.

This is the stuff I'm talking about. MGS, cinematic angles, I loved them. They may have been too limited. But now look at SOTC, it gives you limited angles, but it gives you the angles you want to see from, the most beautiful angles, the angles that make the game look unbelievable from all respects. Gaming needs more of this, frig man, this is just wicked.

Damn, the motion blur effect is fantastic, and so is everything else about the gfx, when you swing the view around, it totally gives an effect like a PS1 CG clip that has it's view swinging around (kind of reminds me of those parts in PS1 RPGs like the FFs that let you run around during a CG sequence, but this is ten times better), this game is fantastic in all regards. I haven't popped in RG yet lol! I'm not a fan of multitasking. Agro is one damn smart and beautiful horse btw. I think he is by far the best AI companion I've met in a game, wow. Talk about immersive, damn...

Can someone please slap me for not picking this up earlier? Thanks. Two or more would be appreciated as well.

Uhh to keep on topic, still playing Rogue Galaxy. I keep getting the feeling they didn't very much polish the boss battles, I got my bum handed to me the last two until I had to level up quite a bit, and this next one I have to fight.. one on one.... and I'm getting destroyed. I've done a lot of mixing and so on, and certainly leveling up and getting awesome items, but something feels unpolished for this one boss fight. This boss fight really shouldn't be this frustrating and tedious in how they function, because it quite put me off and shocked me, I was having an awesome time everywhere else. I'll manage it though, it's still a great game.

Tony Hawk 3
Smooth smooth frame rate
Easy to pick up gameplay
Tons of network play options
Great music

Tony Hawk Project 8
Diabolical frame rate
Long very boring tutorials
Network code removed
Terrible music

Tony Hawk Project 8 is just plain vile. I can see it ending up on ebay pretty quickly. Unlike Tony Hawk 3 which I may start playing again.

And speak of the devil, Syphon Filter Omega Strain arrived. Worth $5? :)

Right now I'm playing Syphon Filter 2 (on my PSP of course) and Mortal Kombat: Unchained on my PSP. I played 2 levels of BF2 and sent it back. It's WAY to arcadey for a BF game I mean it's like you go in a level with like 20 guys or so and you have to run to point A-B and complete these objectives with BF style gameplay. It was also kind of boring and I almost fell asleep. The PC version is soooo much better.

Bought Jumping Flash off the PS Store for my PSP, more difficult than I remember. It's region free, it works on my Japanese PSP.

See if I can cram in Grandia 3 before the Kratos cometh. (Yeth.. Cometh..)

I'm playing Chili Con Carnage and SOCOM 2 on my PSP. Chili is a really crazy game...Mexicans in chicken suits...can't get more loco that that :D. The gameplay is really innovative...it has the Max Payne/Matrix shooting style but you have to score points...think Tony Hawk with guns...the pick ups are crazy as well and this is just really fun. SOCOM 2 is A LOT better then the first...the controls are still troublesome but not nearly as much as the first. Since there's a lock on it feels kind of arcadey and easy but that's ok. The online always kicks ass :D. I'm also playing Burnout: Dominator on my PSP and it's disappointing. Too much like Revenge and it feels like EA is just milking it until Burnout 5...

Yeah THPS3 is my favorite TH game of all time. The best version is the PS2 version just don't get the PS1 or 64 version curry lol you'll hate it. After playing the PS2 version it ruins it for you to play it on inferior consoles.

Ya man, I know, after I beat THPS3, I thought to myself... this wouldn't be nearly as good the way it was made on the PS1 or 64. I couldn't go back to THPS2 either... THPS3 just blew up the extreme skating world.

I remember there was another cool skateboarding title on the PS1... it was a lot more realistic, suprisingly for me I actually think I liked it even after so much THPS.

I think it had Daewon Song in it or something, I forgot the name of the game.... But I could just be remembering only the good parts about it, I haven't played it in a long time (the non THPS one I'm trying to remember).

I'm looking forward to SKATE from EA though! That game looks wicked! I watched it and it felt like being reintroduced to THPS3 oddly enough lol. Great graphics and also another new take on skateboarding. This one's on the realistic side of the spectrum though, way on the realistic side, but I think it might have a lot going for it.

O and uh.... started playing FF IX from the beginning again because I have no games hahahah.

GH 1's Hard mode was pretty easy at first so I was able to get used to the orange button and I went back to GH 2 later and played well. I still go back and forth between both games every couple of days. In GH 1 Cowboys From Hell is the one song I can't get five stars on Medium and I can't get past it on Hard.

Finished GTA3, hurrah. Chances of me winning the "Games you've finished in 2007" thread? 1000 to 1.

Got a ton of games arriving next week, looking for something short and cool to play until then. Think I'll spend the rest of the evening finding one. Sweeet.

I seem to be settled back into the usual pattern of dogging the Playstation 1, 2 or 3 24/7 and letting the other two gather dust. Playing a bit of Elite Beat Agents, have to do it alone as you have to concentrate and the wife keeps wanting to talk to me about inorganic rubbish collections by the council.

You know, I think if Elite Beat Agents had better music in it? I'd like it less...

[edit] Started Grandia III. Usually GameArts RPGs hack me off, but I like this one. They just need a few polygons in order to get their story across. For me at least.

Bit of a change in pace from GTA3 though. :) Don't imagine I'll be picking up hookers then backing the car over them to get my money back in this game. :)

A good trick I hear a lot of people use to get used to the orange fret is to have your index finger on the red fret instead of green. It's easier to shift your index finger than your pinky. Combat system too complicated for anyone who hasn't played a Grandia game before

You'll finish it in 20 hours.

Aren't reviewers full of ****?

Terrific combat system, you can pull of aerial moves, cancel opponents moves. The game is very linear and story driven but that's OK. Want to get rid of it before God of War 2 arrives but no chance of that, seems a 35 hour game.

I beat the game on Normal with Captain America, Iron Man, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider. On Hard, I'm currently using Thor, Dr. Strange, Deadpool, and Moon Knight. I'm currently heading to the Valley of Spirits to take down Mandarin. I'm probably going to switch my team at some point, though. I'm trying to unlock all of the outfits. I figured I'd get all the characters leveled up so I can successfully get through the simulator discs.

However, much of my attention towards MUA has been given to Elder Scrolls IV. I played the third game back on the original Xbox and I hated it. Something about it didn't even seem right and I ended up only owning it for an hour or so. After playing Oblivion over the weekend, I was hooked. There are some flaws with it here and there, but the game is addicting.....almost too addicting. I feel this game is what Fable should've been.

I'm kind of angry with my gamerscore on XBL. See, most games give out achievements in multiples of 5 (5, 10, 15, etc....). Well, I ended up buying Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 over the Arcade a while back, but it has some oddly numbered achievements. One is worth 8 points, another is worth 12, etc etc.
Well, I got tired of looking at my gamerscore being at 5171. The one at the end of that number is from UMK3, and I planned on fixing it. I jumped back into the game and holy shit, I remember why I stopped playing it. I've never been good at fighting games. But Motaro and Shoa Kahn made me want to kill someone. Why were they so difficult? Well, I managed to get my score to 5228. The 8 bothers me and I need to get the achievement for winning 10 Ranked matches in order to get the last digit at a zero. However, I get owned easily on this game. It's evil, I swear.

In short: I've played a little bit of UKM3 lately.

Right now, most of my gaming time has been devoted to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I originally played it a year or so after it was released, but I never got that far. This time around, I'm pretty close to beating the game as Alucard. Soon enough, I'll beat the game as Richter.

Fucking Shivering Isles. The quest "addiction" is fucking imposible. I just can't get through it or even close. Those ants things kick the shit out of me. Fucking level 38 and always repaired fully. So mad at the moment.

Ok....had to express my anger somewhere.

I've beat most the PSP games, and the beatable DS games. I am working on 2 Wii titles, and all but Untold Legends and Sonic on the PS3 side.

PS3/PSP and Wii/DS living in harmony. That's the way a gamer's life should be. :cloud9:

That's a nice shelf set-up. But what if you buy another game? Will it fit?

Ill start stacking DS games on top of each other when i get Super Paper Mario this week, same with the PSP games once a game that catches my eye/wallet comes out on the PS3. I have a unused shelf, i may move portable games to there, we shall see. I'm a neat freak, I'll find some way to make it look aesthetically pleasing. :tada:

hmm right now...

Zelda: TP --> Wii; around half done I think, recently got back into it after not playing since December!!!

TES:IV Ob. --> PS3; having trouble staying with it since I already had it for 360 a long long while ago.

Theme Park --> DS; great classic from the Genesis days relived!

Burnout Revenge --> 360; I just keep playing the demo over and over :D too cheap to buy the actual game. But other than this, my 360 is getting mighty dusty.

Chrono Trigger --> Mac; got the emulator version (and I own the SNES cart so I dunno if that makes it legal or not ??) which rocks when sitting through international politics at school.

Meh, I always have lots of games on the go. I can't seem to finish any of them anymore :( too much reading about Byzantine history to catch up on for fall semester.....
